Repaired and not repaired. on one hand

Painted and not painted on the other hand.

Totally repaired 36 and 20 repaired but NOT painted.

48 not repaired.

Now the houses repaired and painted are 16 36 - 2 0=16

48 painted - 16 we do have 32 NOT repaired but painted.

E is the answer

Only A=20
A+common =36
20+common=36

hence,
common=16
B+common=48

Only B=48-16=32

Roof Repair = 36 houses
Repainted = 48 houses

No. of houses which had roof repair but not repainted = 20

No. of houses which had both roof repair and repaint = 36-20 = 16

No. of houses which had repaint but not roof repair = 48 -16 = 32

Since 20 of the houses had roof repairs but were not repainted, 36 - 20 = 16 houses had roof repairs and were repainted.

Since 48 of the houses were repainted and 16 were both repaired and repainted, 48 - 16 = 32 were repainted but had no roof repairs.

Answer: E
