I don’t quite agree with the solution. "If the final mixture weighs 24 kilograms, how many kilograms of phosphorus does it contain?"- as per my understanding the question is asking for weight of phosphorous in the mixture instead of second blend. It is not clearly mentioned in the question is my understanding.
The wording is clear: the question asks for phosphorus in the final 24-kg mixture, not “in the second blend.” The first blend has no phosphorus, so all phosphorus in the final mixture must come from the second blend. Since 6 kg of the second blend is used and 80% of that is phosphorus, the phosphorus in the final mixture is 4.8 kg. The solution is correct, the confusion comes from misreading “in the mixture” as something different, but it already refers to the combined total.
