Hi
akhil0405,
First and foremost you have an all-rounder profile with a very good CGPA score of 8.72 from one of the top engineering colleges in India. All of these elements when put together showcase your strong academic prowess. Furthermore, you have mentioned that you are aiming for a 720+ score in your upcoming GMAT exam which is exactly what you should be aiming for since it will allow you to target most of the top-notch B-schools.
Coming to your extracurricular activities, you have held positions of responsibility in very diverse domains which will definitely work in your favour as it showcases a holistically developed profile, a trait that the schools are always looking forward to in their applicants. Apart from this, you have also participated in volunteering works in NGOs which highlights how you are socially responsible and would go above and beyond in your endeavours. Having varied endeavours surely gives an edge to your profile. Moreover, you can further enhance your profile by mentioning how you honed your soft skills, added value to these endeavours, impacts you created, major takeaways and the exposure you gained from these experiences.
Talking about your work experience, you have more than two years of work experience in PwC as a technology consultant which is a great brand name under your belt. However, you can enhance this section of your profile further to differentiate yourself from other applicants by maybe highlighting how you went above and beyond in your endeavours by throwing light into the kind of projects you undertook, what value you added to these projects, the unique perspectives you’ve gained and the major takeaways you were able to attain from the same. This will allow you to stand out from the competition you’ll face.
Additionally, you can also take up certain certifications in the field you want to build your career in as it will act as an extra bonus for your application since it will showcase your proactiveness and thirst for constant learning and growth.
Coming on to resolve your dilemma as to which course is better between MiM or MEM. The answer to this totally depends on your goals. If you are more inclined towards techno-managerial roles then you can definitely go for MEM as it is designed for engineers and to complement your technical skills, on the other hand if you are inclined towards gaining a generalized knowledge of all the aspects of business and management wherein all the career options are open for you, then MiM is the perfect for you.
To provide you insights into schools you could be targeting for each of the aforementioned degrees, I’ve bifurcated schools as per their categories:
Here are a few MiM schools that you can be targeting:
Under the dream category( 40-50% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as LBC, LSE and HEC.
Under the competitive category( 60-70% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as ESSEC, ESCP, FSFM, IE and ESADE.
Under the safe category( 70-80% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as GRENOBLE, SKEMA and EDHEC.
Here are a few MEM schools that you can be targeting:
Under the dream category( 40-50% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as DARTMOUTH, CORNELL and MIT.
Under the Upper competitive category( 60-70% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as DUKE, JOHN HOPKINS and PURDUE.
Under the Competitive category( 70-80% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as USC Marshall, TUFTS, KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY.
Under the safe category( 80-90% chances of acceptance) you can target schools such as UNIVERSITY OF BRUNSWICK and SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY.
All said and done, while you have a good profile, there will be thousands of applicants out there with similarly great profiles, which is why your application would play a huge role in enhancing your chances of getting accepted into your target schools. You would need to highlight your profile USP’s and how you can be a great addition to the school whilst posing the right examples to legitimize your claim. Additionally, you need to ensure that your LORs and Resume, equally depict the strengths of your profile.
