Hello everyone!

I am 22 years old ( did a gap year after high school, but worked as a bartender  ) Polish Male

I will graduate 2021 - bachelor's in Management at Kozminski University ranked 48 in FT business schools EU(ACCA, EQUIS, AMBA accredited #1 business uni in Poland) GPA 6.8-7/10 (dont know yet) I am going to take the GMAT in february march( aiming at ~700)

-I did an exchange semester at Hoogeschool Utrecht last year, Netherlands
- I am doing a second exchange(special program 100% digital) at University of Victoria Canada (I will have a suplement that I finished a major in International business at UVic in my diploma)
- I am curently living in Madrid doing my internship 3 months in(6 in total) at a spanish startup(sales and marketing) and learning spanish

I was thinking about CEMS MiM at RSM or Esade. Or IESE but their MiM is new and not even ranked in FT yet. But preferably I would go for ESCP MiM 2 terms in Paris and 2 terms in Madrid. Do you guys think I have a shot at ESCP if I pass my GMAT well and craft some good essays? Also I would like to pursue a carrer in consulting for a very short period 2-3 years and either transition to marketing or open my own company, Is ESCP masters diploma going to be viewed as something valuable in in switzerland and spain? I want to move to switzerland for a few years after my master's and then live in spain if the economy would get back on track, since now after coronavirus it's wrecked even more than it already was.

Thanks in advance!

Hello everybody,

I would appreciate if you could evaluate my profile. I want to apply to MIM programs in Europe for the fall 2021 intake.

My profile:
22-year old female from Germany
Currently finishing my Bachelor´s degree in Business Administration at a University of Applied Sciences in Germany (AACSB accredited, Top 15 for Business in Germany, unfortunately not very prestigious / well known); current GPA: 1.2/6 (which corresponds to a 3.8/4 GPA); exchange semester at Yonsei University in Seoul (Korea)
GMAT Score 650 (V34; Q47)
TOEFL Score 112
6 month internship at Bosch Germany in International Management and Product Management
I was a member of the board of a student initiative at my university (which included leading a group of 15 students)
I have international experience as I spent a year in the U.S. after highschool and spent a semester in Korea as an exchange student
I am a member of the honor society Beta Gamma Sigma

I do not have any specific target schools yet, since I am unsure which schools I have a realistic chance at. I am looking forward to your suggestions. Thank you in advance!
Hey beta842!

Starting off with your academics, You have a pretty strong academic background. A GPA of 3.8/4 definitely showcases your academic prowess and excellent academic performance. Moreover, you have pursued a bachelor’s in business administration which further strengthens your profile, as it aligns well with your future goal of pursuing a management degree.

You have also pursued a semester abroad in Seoul which is an excellent way to highlight your broadened perspective and global outlook in your life and academics. Moreover, due to the contrast of culture between Germany and Seoul, you’d also be able to highlight your adaptability and ability to assimilate well into a different culture. This is something that would definitely be appreciated by the admission committee.

Coming onto your work experience, you have a pretty decent professional background. Bosch is a decent brand name, however, you’d be competing with applicants from big4 companies. But nevertheless, your experience at Bosch won’t be a deal-breaker in your profile as you can negate the lack of a big brand name by zoning onto the quality of work experience you have gained at the position in Bosch. Here, you can talk about the kind of projects you led, the major learning takeaways, and how you bloomed into the role of a fresh graduate to an efficient professional and added value to the company.

You have a decent share of extracurricular activities as well. Being a member of the student initiative board highlights your leadership and communication skills. I am not sure about your role in the Beta Sigma Gamma but if it is anything like a US sorority, then I am pretty sure that the experience must have provided you with plenty of opportunities to lead and manage teams, plan events, and create an impact through your varied skills. Even though your extracurriculars are quite decent in themselves, I would still suggest you take up a volunteering position at a local non-profit as it would provide you with the opportunity to channel your empathy and make a positive impact through your business and leadership skills.

Moving forward, I believe you have a strong profile but your GMAT score is a bit on the lower end. To remedy this, you can either retake the examination and try to get a score of 690 at least, as it would widen the doors for you to target some of the top schools in Europe. In case, you do not wish to do that for whatever reason, I would suggest you divert the focus onto your admission applications.

A strong application holds 30% weightage in the admission process. The application acts as the window through which the admission committee can peer into your skills, caliber, and your personality. But simultaneously, it is also the way through which you can highlight your strengths and give apt justifications for your weaknesses to smooth over any flaws in your profile. Moreover, a strong application would let you draw the focus from your low GMAT score to the strong highlights of your profile.

Considering your decent profile, you can target a mixed bunch of schools from the dream, competitive and safe category to hedge your bets wisely and have a chance of getting as many acceptance letters as you can. You can target schools such as:

Dream: ESSEC, ESCP, Esade etc.
Competitive: EDHEC, IE, UCD
Safe: Grenoble, Skema

Moreover, I would advise you to apply in the first round of admissions as there is a significantly higher chance of getting admission in the first round due to less competition as all the seats are empty. Applying in the first round itself along with a strong application would help you get into the program and also bag scholarships in the process.

As the first round of admissions is just around the corner, you might be looking for experts to help you strategize the best course of action to help you get into the program. Hence, I’d recommend you to check out our flagship ALL-IN-ONE Solution, where our experts would help you with every step of the admissions process right from the strategy session to the final interview round.

Hi,
Age:23
Graduated in Bachelor of Engineering(Computer Science and Technology) with a 3.7/4 GPA in 2019.
My current experience is of 1.3 years in Customer Relationship Management.
Spent 4-5 months in South Korea as part of a Semester Exchange Program, so international experience is not an issue.

I am yet to sit for my GMAT exam, but I'm certain I'll cross the 700 mark.

I've not targeted any schools for now, but I'd like to get my act together once I take my GMAT. My preference would be schools in the UK, Germany, and France.
I'm aiming for September 2021 intake.

Also, I'm contemplating whether I should be invested in the MIM Programs, or just go for the conventional MBA Programs.
Please do let me know what more I can do to beat the odds, and make it to the best B-Schools out there.
Hey meg208,

To start with the strong suits of your profile, your GPA of 3.7/4 is pretty impressive and showcases your academic prowess and opens the door to most of the top business schools worldwide. Moreover, it is great to see that you have an international experience of spending 4-5 months in South Korea as a part of the Semester Exchange Program. International exposure is a highly sought after trait from business schools as it showcases your broadened perspective and ability to adapt and work well in foreign environments.

Moving on, since you have not mentioned any details about your extracurricular activities, I’d like to let you know that extracurricular participation plays a significant aspect in strengthening your applications as B-schools are on the hunt for all-rounder profiles. Hence, it is essential to shed some light on the endeavours you have taken up at any clubs, associations, sports, fest, or events you managed or participated in during your undergraduate. Volunteering initiatives, certifications, or internships undertaken during the course of your study would also count towards your extracurricular initiatives. Thus, you should dig deeper into this aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile or seek to build in this area if the need be.

Also, if your target is to get admission to the major top B-schools then a GMAT score of 690+ is the best way to set yourself comfortable in their admission list as it would not only fulfill the basic eligibility criteria but also pose as proof of your academic abilities.
Speaking of your work experience, your 1.3 years in Customer Relationship Management is good enough. But since you don’t hold any experience from Big 4 firms, you ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge.

Highlight why you chose this firm, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took and any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences. Properly highlighting this would allow you to stand at par with candidates with more extensive work experience from Big 4 or other brand name firms.

Since you are in doubt whether to go for a MiM program or for the conventional MBA program, let me clarify. A MiM program is designed for freshers with 0-2 years of work experience whereas an MBA is a managers degree which would require you to have at least 4 years of work experience before you tread onto the journey of higher education. Having said that, given your work experience, I would suggest going ahead with an MIM degree as you fall right into the category and would also be able to bag admits from schools ranking amongst the top 10 list worldwide. Having a prestigious brand in your CV, would vouch for your capabilities, making you attractive to every employer, and thus, fetching meritorious job opportunities would be an easy win for you.

As for the schools you need to be targeting, one thing that I would like to address is that whenever you are applying to schools abroad, it is always better to target a mix of the dream, competitive, and safe schools to hedge your bets wisely and ensure a fruitful outcome.

To help you understand better, I’ve suggested a few schools that you could be targeted according to the different categories.

DREAM: LBS, HEC, St. Gallen, Imperial
COMPETITIVE: ESSEC, ESCP, SSE, WHU
SAFE: EDHEC, Skema

Looking at your profile you have a 50% chance of getting admitted to dream schools, a 70% chance of getting admitted to the schools in the Competitive category, and a 90% chance of getting admitted to schools in the safe category.

To conclude, you have a pretty decent profile and you can most certainly be targeting the top MIM programs. To increase your chances of getting selected by these schools you need to start prepping for a strong application consisting of well-drafted Essays, LORs, Statement of Purpose, and Resume that highlights all your strong suits, gives reasoning for the weaknesses as well as why your experience is less, and display how you’d be a good addition to the cohort. You need to showcase your journey, what makes you different from your peers, and how you are a great value addition to the school.

Hello, I'd like to have a profile evaluation:
Age:22 (I'll be 23 by the time program starts)
Graduated 2019 from a good university in India - GPA 3.4
Work ex - around 8 months but I have a gap of around 8 months as well.
I have done 2 one -month internships during my college
one month internship for NGO.
GMAT score 680 (V37, Q47)
IELTS score 7.5
Not too much extra-curricular activity experience, though there are a few things I've been a part of. Have also been on an exchange program during school days.
My targeted schools for MiM are- Imperial, Essec, WHU, Rotterdam
Thanks in advance
Hi Akshat0744,

Your overall profile seems quite decent with room for further improvement. Your GPA of 3.4 showcases your academic prowess which coupled with your competitive GMAT score of 680, will enable you to target most of the top B-schools. However, you need to balance your profile by paying equal attention to your extracurricular activities as it’ll highlight your versatility and holistic approach which is what these schools are looking for.

When it comes to writing about your extracurricular activities, you should always focus on highlighting how you went above and beyond in your endeavors and how you will be a great value addition to the school. To give you a brief idea of how to go about with this, you can maybe talk about the clubs and associations you were involved in, the teams you led, certifications you undertook and most importantly your volunteering activities along with NGOs. This will basically showcase your constant thirst for knowledge and growing your horizons. It will also highlight your soft skills paired with your social skills which can ultimately vouch for the budding leader within you.

Here, you have also mentioned how you were part of an exchange program during your school years which can work in your favour provided it was an international program as it will showcase your international exposure, broadened perspectives and your adaptable nature.

Speaking of your work experience, you have mentioned that you have 8 months of full-time work experience which is decent enough but you should keep in mind that you will be facing a lot of competition from applicants who have worked in big four companies like KPMG, EY, DELOITTE and PWC. Nevertheless, to compensate for the same, you can focus on highlighting the kind of projects you handled, the value you added to these projects, the skills you gained and the major takeaways you were able to attain throughout your work experience. Showcasing the intensity of your work experience would bring you at par with your competition.

Most importantly, you have talked about your 8 month gap period in your work experience which needs to be justified by posing the right alibi because gaps are definitely not appreciated by these B-schools. Here, you can mention how you were involved in doing something constructive for your overall development, it can be anything related to your career goals or personal goals.

Furthermore, you have mentioned about your internship experience wherein, you have also interned at an NGO which is quite impressive as it showcases that you are socially responsible. The other two internships, on the other hand, can be moulded to fit the narrative of how you didn’t want to restrict yourself only around what your undergraduate degree was offering and hence you went above and beyond in pursuit of an all-round experience.

Moreover, when it comes to the schools that you are specifically targeting, you need to cross- check certain facts, especially the eligibility criteria.

Speaking of Imperial, since you haven’t mentioned your undergraduate degree, you should know that one of their prerequisites is a non- business undergraduate degree. Other than that, ESSEC, IMPERIAL and WHU come under the competitive category where the chances of acceptance range somewhere around 70%. ROTTERDAM comes under the dream category school where the chances of acceptance range somewhere around 50%.

One thing you should take note of is that the numerical figures mentioned above are subjective and can only be achieved provided you back your profile with a very good application since there are many applicants out there with an equal or better profile than you. To put it simply, you need to highlight the kind of strengths you possess, what makes you stand out, how you’ll be a good value addition to the school and also justify your weaknesses and failures by pointing out how you were lacking in certain areas and later how you worked to overcome them.

All in all, it seems that you have all the resources with you for applying in round 1. Having said that, the deadline is just a few days away so I would suggest you to Book a Free consulting session with one of our consultants who will help you plan a winning strategy to overcome the particular weaknesses in your profile, especially the 8 months gap period in your work experience, by turning it into a positive situation thus creating a winning application that will boost your chances of acceptance by a minimum of 3 times.

Below you will find the link to book a 20-minute FREE consulting call with our expert consultants.

Hello everyone, could you please evaluate my profile for the best B-Schools in Europe MiM Program.

This is my profile
21-year old man from Russia.

I'm graduating this year my Bachelor in International relations in one of the top school in my country (MGIMO University) with a GPA of 3.90/4.00 (translated in English/American system, compared to my class I've been consistently in top 5%); I have also secured numerous awards for talented students, including the Presidential grant.
My GMAT score is 710 (V42,Q44).
I had an internship in a small logistics company, and got into internship program in Central Bank of Russia, but due to Covid-19 they cancelled it.
I have international experience as I attended a summer school at Glasgow university, and as an exchange student and I took part to the structured partnership between MGIMO and Kyung Hee University in Korea, which allowed me to take a semester abroad.

Extracurricular activities: I have been the president of the student club for more than a year (this included organizing meetings with experts, diplomats as well as holding student conferences).

I aim for top schools, but I do need scholarship. Plus, I do think that I lack some proper business experience and fear that it might be a huge disadvantage. However, I think I can get into Big-4 internship program if I want to, in order to strengthen my profile.

So what do you make of it? Are there any chances for me? Let me please know if you know how to improve my profile.

Thank you, I appreciate any help I can get.

Hey Ilias21,

You have a pretty decent profile.

Starting off with your academics, you have a pretty impressive academic background. Your GPA of 3.90/4 shows exceptional academic prowess. Moreover, you have graduated from a top school in Russia which further enhances your profile by adding a big brand name, something which is definitely preferred by any B-school.

You also have received numerous awards and presidential grants in your undergrad which sets you apart from the rest of the competition by showcasing your high academic skills and moreover authenticates your strong academic background.

Your GMAT score of 710 is pretty competitive and further highlights your strong quantitative and analytical aptitude and opens the doors for you to target all of the top schools.

Coming onto your work experience, your internship at the logistics company while seems interesting, lacks the aspect of a big brand name which plays a part in enhancing your profile as most of your competition would have experiences at big 4 companies. But you can negate the lack of brand name in the profile by drawing the focus on the quality of your work experience at the company. Here, talking about the roles and positions you undertook, the teams and projects you led and the impact you created in those positions would help you establish yourself as a strong candidate and help you highlight the fact that you are no less than a big4 candidate. Furthermore, you may also take up an internship at a big4 company, preferably in the field you wish to be building your career in, to further strengthen your profile.

Moving on, you seem to have a fair share of extracurricular activities as well. Your stint as the president of the student club highlights your leadership and project management skills. Moreover, organizing seminars with diplomats also showcases your excellent communication skills.

Even though you have a decent profile, it is lacking a bit on the extracurricular front. Extracurricular activities are a way to showcase your proactive attitude and how you have emulated the theoretical knowledge you gained in classes and created a positive impact by utilizing them in real-life situations. They also showcase a holistic development, a trait preferred by B-schools. To further build on your extracurricular, you may take up an internship at an NGO or undertake volunteering activities. Moreover, you may also take up certifications in business management to not only highlight your passion and interest in pursuing MIM but also build strong business acumen.

Given your strong profile, you can target all of the top business schools, although a better strategy is to target a mixed bunch of schools from the dream, competitive and safe category in order to hedge your bets wisely. That said, here are a few schools you could consider targeting:

Dream: HEC, INSEAD, LBS, LSE
Competitive: Esade, ESCP, IE, ESSEC
Safe: EDHEC, Grenoble, Skema

Reflecting on your decent profile, you can target all of those schools. However, I would suggest you to apply in the earlier rounds of applications as it would drastically increase your chances of making it into the program. Your decent profile, when complemented with a strong application that highlights your strengths and focuses on your academic and professional journey, will rightly help convey your fit for the school, thereby increasing your chances of acceptance and also the chances of bagging scholarships.

As the second round of applications is just around the corner, you might be in a time crunch and must be looking forward to professional help to aid you in strategizing the right course of action for your application. Hence, I would suggest you to book a FREE Consultation Call with one of our consultants through the link given below. We have successfully had 27 admits to HEC, 64 to ESSEC, and 49 to ESCP this year and helped countless other applicants in their journey to their dream schools. We’d be happy to chalk out a winning strategy for you too!

Hey ConceptSca,

You have a pretty decent profile.

Starting off with your academics, you undoubtedly have a strong academic background. Your GPA of 3.9 in Finance showcases your advanced financial acumen and your academic prowess.

Your GMAT is pretty decent too. It does fall a bit on the shorter side but you can always negate that by crafting a strong application which provides apt justifications for your scores. Moreover, if you are open to retaking the GMAT, I would suggest doing so, as higher the score, the more strengthened your profile will be.

Coming to your work experience, your 2-month internship as a credit analyst which is relevant work experience in the field of finance, is something that would be appreciated by business schools. Although, you must take note that there is a lack of big brand names in your profile. You are applying to a competitive program where you would face competitions from the candidates owning experiences from big4 companies. Hence, I would suggest you craft an application that draws the focus on the quality of your work experience. Here, you can talk about the kind of projects you worked on, the major learning takeaways and how you bloomed into the role of a credit analyst. Additionally, I would suggest getting an internship at preferably one of the big companies as that would automatically vouch for your capabilities, given the stringent acceptance rates at big brands.

You also have a fair share of part-time work experience as well. Being a tutor on the campus showcases the extent of your financial knowledge meanwhile working in the campus office highlights your management skills. Here, you may talk about the impact you created and the events you organized for the students while working in the recreational centre.

That said, another significant aspect is that schools focus on extracurricular activities. So you would be required to elucidate your proactiveness in extracurricular and other initiatives. In case you don’t have any, it's recommended to work upon the same to build a holistic profile.

You can work on this front by taking up volunteering activities or getting associated with an NGO. Alternatively, you may also take up certifications in finance such as FRM and CFA which would not only showcase your proactive attitude but also your passion for the field. Also, you are still a senior and haven’t graduated yet, so you may also leverage upon the remaining time and partake in any student clubs and organizations which would allow you to use your leadership and organizational skills to bring forth positive impact.

Given your school choices, Vanderbilt, UT Austin and Rochester fall under the dream category which means you have a 40-50% chance of acceptance at these schools. While the rest of the schools fall under the competitive category and you stand 60-70% chances of getting accepted into the program at these schools.

To summarize, while you have a competitive profile, you need to be aware that you will face competition from applicants having similar or maybe even better profiles, thus, to increase your chances of getting admitted to these schools you would need to ensure that you have a very strong application. A strong application through its various components such as essays, LORs and SOPs would help you to highlight your strengths and give apt justifications for your weaknesses to smooth over any flaws in your profile. Moreover, the application acts as the window through which the admission committee can peer into your skills calibre and your personality.

Lastly, since the major chances of your admission depend on the quality of your application and the second round of applications are just around the corner, you can book a FREE Consultation call with us, where our experts would help you strategize and chalk out the best course of action for your application - a plan that has helped over 2500 applicants win admits from their dream schools!

Hello everybody, could you please evaluate my profile for the best B-Schools in Europe (INSEAD, St Gallen, LBS, IESE) MiM Programs.
This is my profile
25-year old man from Ireland.
I just graduated last year from a double degree program in International Business (Major in Finance).
I spent my first 2 years in an Irish university and graduated with 1st class honours
My final two years were spent in a French Business School and I graduated with an average mark of 16.2/20
GMAT score 760 (Q50, V44)
I have completed an 8 month internship in a French Bank in Luxembourg.
I have further international experience as I have spent time working in both Canada and in the United States.
I am aware that my age is considerably above the average age of students but I am hoping that wont matter too much as I changed my undergrad after 1 year and also took a gap year before I started college.
Extracurricular activities: I was an active member of some clubs and societies in college but no leadership positions really. I tried to launch a company as part of my final year of college but it failed to launch because of Covid-19.
I'm really curious to know if I have a good chance to get in any of the above-mentioned schools, thank you for your time!

Applying in Round 1

Hey Yugamyugal,

You have a pretty decent profile.

To begin with, your academic background is quite strong. A GPA of 9.1/10 is impressive and showcases your excellent academic capabilities. Moreover, studying on a scholarship also sets you apart as it authenticates your academic prowess.

You seem to have a fair share of internships as well. Your internships are from varied backgrounds of business and highlight the cross-functional knowledge base you must have gained from these experiences. However, you haven’t mentioned any brand name. A big brand name certainly plays a part in bolstering your profile, as you’d be facing competition from applicants from big4 companies. But in case you don’t have such brand names in your profile, you can utilize your application to draw the focus on the quality of your work. Here, talking about the roles and positions you undertook, the teams and projects you led and the impact you created in those positions would help you establish yourself as a strong candidate and help you highlight the fact that you are no less than a big4 candidate.

You have also undertaken quite a lot of extracurricular activities as well. Your internship at NGOs showcases your empathetic attitude and how you have channelled your skills and talent to create a positive impact on society. Your involvement in sports highlights your determination and team management skills. While participating in debates, quizzes and MUNs display your excellent communication skills.
Extracurricular activities are a way to showcase your proactive attitude and how you have emulated the theoretical knowledge you gained in classes and created a positive impact by utilizing them in real-life situations. They also showcase a holistic development, a trait preferred by B-schools. Taking up online certifications, even though it doesn’t go on to differentiate your profile but it definitely goes ahead to show your proactive attitude and thirst for knowledge. Hence, the initiatives you have taken up highlight your holistic and overall development in all fronts.

Your profile is quite decent although your GMAT score falls on the lower end. Given your school choices need to have at least 700 in your GMAT to be able to target all of the top B schools. Hence, you may either go for a retake, but in case you don’t wish to do so for whatever reason, utilize your application documents to highlight the strong suits of your profile and showcase that you're a worthy candidate for the program despite your low GMAT score.

Given your school choices, St. Gallen fall under the ultra dream category, meaning it has stricter requirements and only accepts as many as 2 candidates from each country to maintain the diversity in their cohort, thereby lowering your chances of acceptance even further in their program. Apart from this, the rest of the schools fall under the competitive category, which means you have 60-70% chances of getting into the program. A better strategy is to target a mixed bunch of schools from the dream, competitive and safe category in order to hedge your bets wisely. That said, here are a few schools you could consider targeting:

Dream: LBS, LSE, INSEAD, HEC Paris
Safe: EDHEC, Skema, Grenoble, University of Bath

Another thing that you should focus on is a strong application. Since there are certain highs and lows in your profile. A strong application through its various components such as essays, LORs and SOPs would help you to highlight your strengths and give apt justifications for your weaknesses to smooth over any flaws in your profile. Moreover, the application acts as the window through which the admission committee can peer into your skills calibre and your personality.

Lastly, since the major chances of your admission depend on the quality of your application and the second round of admissions are just around the corner, you can book a FREE Consultation call with us, where our experts would help you strategize and chalk out the best course of action for your application - a plan that has helped over 2500 applicants win admits from their dream schools!

Hey azulara92,

You have a pretty good profile.

To begin with, your undergraduate GPA showcases your academic prowess which coupled with your academic background in the field of Business Management works in your favor as for the MSc in Strategic Management programs schools tend to pick applicants with relevant knowledge or experiences in the field. While your grades do play an important part, your extracurricular activities and your other endeavours matter as well because AdComs are looking for applicants with holistically developed profiles.

For your extracurricular activities, your achievements and leadership role of starting the national committee showcases your leadership skills and ability to take on initiatives. Since any entrepreneurial endeavour is accompanied by a lot of allied activities, thus, you should dig deeper into this aspect and bring out varied skills in your profile such as your role of leading teams or strategizing plans to make the venture successful. However one thing to note on the extracurricular front is that, since there has been significant time between your application and undergrad so adding details about any CSR activities you were involved in or any certifications you have taken up during this time frame can help bolster your extracurriculars and build a holistic profile.
.
As far as your work experience goes you have extensive experience in the field of management in varied roles which definitely acts in your favour, since MSc in Strategic Marketing is a specialized masters and AdComs are looking for applicants with relevant experience in the field of management. . You ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took and any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences. Properly highlighting this would differentiate you from candidates with more extensive work experience hailing from big 4 brands. That said, connecting your work experience and your decision to pursue a masters is very important.

Come to the schools you are targeting, Imperial College Business, University of Cranfield, BI Norwegian Business School and Seoul National University come under the competitive category. Looking at your profile you have a 70% chance of getting admitted to the schools in the competitive category.
Furthermore, some of the other top schools offering MSc in Strategic Marketing programs that you can be targeting are:

-Trinity College Dublin Business School
-Warwick Business School
-University of Glasgow
-Aston University
-Catolica Lisbon

All said and done, while you have a good profile, there will be thousands of applicants out there with similarly great profiles, which is why your application would play a huge role in enhancing your chances of getting accepted into your target schools. You would need to highlight your profile USP’s and how you can be a great addition to the school whilst posing the right examples to legitimize your claim. Additionally, you need to ensure that your LORs and Resume, equally depict the strengths of your profile since your application( SOP, ESSAY, LOR & RESUME ) will hold a 30% value in the selection procedure.

Further, if you need a more in-depth profile evaluation for a thorough understanding of your strengths and weaknesses, ways to build your profile further and a more comprehensive and personalized list of target schools you can email us your resume at info@mim-essay.com

Hello hello, I hope everyone here is having a great day or night, wherever you are!

I would like to ask for a profile evaluation.

I'm applying to: CEMS MIM in SSE (Stockholm) and Bocconi, considering Vlerick, Maastricht and Aalto, but I'm open to any suggestions

Nationality and age: Polish, but living in Norway 3 years now, 24 years old
Academic background: One of the biggest Norwegian universities; Social sciences, Arctic Tourism to be more more specific (however, a big chunk of my studies is related to business and management); serving as the class president during my entire bachelor studies, GPA in the top of the class
Languages: Fluent English (Toefl 111/120), native Polish, intermediate Norwegian
GMAT: 700, with AWA 6.0
Work Experience: 2 years working as a manager at an international tourist site, responsible for recruiting and managing team of guides; international guide for another company, working with people from all over the world
Other Experience: Participation in one international business project (developing a plan for foreign market expansion), some local-scale projects (project management, organizing funding etc.)

I know that my academic background is rather unorthodox, but I hope my international experience and decent GMAT score can stack the odds in my favor.

Thank you in advance and stay safe!

Hi all,

I am looking to apply to HEC Paris, ESSEC, INSEAD and ESCP round 2 for the MIM programme.

My current profile looks like this -
Undergraduate studies - Ashoka University, 2.79/4 CGPA, Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology
GMAT - Not given yet. Scored 650/800 in the last mock.
Work experience - 1+ years in government relations/strategic communications and public affairs for a French multinational conglomerate based in New Delhi.
Internships - Have a couple internships in digital strategy, sustainable development etc.
Extracurriculars - University football team, know a couple instruments etc.

Any suggestions on whether my current profile would suffice for these schools?

Hey sidshpongled,

You have a decent profile.

To start with your GPA, 2.79 is on a bit on the lower end. Nevertheless, if you pose the right alibi to justify why your GPA was low, you can easily overshadow this drawback in your profile. You can draw attention towards how you were looking to build your profile holistically and were involved in various projects, internships, and extracurricular activities. However, make sure you highlight the major takeaways from each endeavor undertaken.
Moving on, your GMAT score of 650 could further be improved when it comes to targeting the top schools. 690+ is what will work in your favour as it will widen your scope of getting into premiere business schools and also act as proof of your academic capabilities. So, retake is definitely what is recommended.

Another significant aspect that schools focus on is extracurricular activities as they are looking for a comprehensive profile. You thus need to make sure that you mention a decent amount of EC and certifications, citing which, you need to dig deep into the details of each endeavour, connecting the dots as to how you’ve benefited from it. In case you want to build your profile further, you can take up volunteering work at local shelters or NGO’s as it would help showcase the socially responsible side to your personality.

On the professional front, you hold 1+ year in government relations/ strategic communications and public affairs for a French multinational conglomerate, which is indeed impressive. Here, you can talk about the international exposure you got while dealing with the international clients, emphasize on the projects you took up, events conducted, etc. To boost your profile, you can further highlight CSR activities to showcase responsibilities taken up and the impacts created by you. Following this approach would allow you to showcase a well enriched professional experience, bringing you at par with applicants adorning big brands on their CV.

Further given your school choices, HEC and INSEAD fall under the dream category whereas ESSEC and ESCP come under the competitive category. In my opinion, you’d have a 40-50% chance of getting into dream schools while roughly around 70% chances of winning an admit from schools in the competitive category. However, do note that in order to apply to HEC, you’d require a GMAT score of 710+.

Secondly, while applying to business schools, a better strategy is to target a mixed bunch of schools from the dream, competitive, and safe category
That said, here are a few schools you can consider:

DREAM: LBS, Duke, Cornell
COMPETITIVE: SSE, IE Business School, WHU
SAFE: EDHEC, Skema, Grenoble

Lastly, to complement your profile you need to begin prepping for a strong application that includes essays, letter of recommendation, statement of purpose, and resume that highlights all your strong suits, gives reasoning for the weaknesses, and displays how you’d be a good addition to the cohort. Also, it is suggested that you apply in the upcoming round to enhance your chances of receiving an admit from your target schools.

On this note, if you have any further queries, I would suggest you take up our FREE consultation call where we can help you to figure out the best course of action for you to realize your goals.

Hi garry1212,

To begin with, your GPA is honestly a bit on the lower, however since you are keen on targeting most of the European schools, you need not worry that much because they are comparatively flexible with their GPA requirements. Moving forward, you have mentioned that you will be taking your GMAT exam with a target score of 700 which is exactly what you should be aiming for as it can be extended as proof of your academic capabilities and open up a wide range of schools that you could be applying to.

Furthermore, you have mentioned that you had exchange semesters in Netherland and currently you are involved in a second exchange program. These international exposures would definitely work in your favour as it will showcase your adaptability and how you have attained a broadened perspective which is very much valued and appreciated by the schools.

Coming to your work experience, your 6 internships are most certainly impressive but you haven’t mentioned the company name or any other significant details about them. While these experiences are definitely praiseworthy, you will still be facing a lot of competition from applicants who have worked under big brand names, if you lack in this department. To thus set yourself at par with your competitors, you can focus on highlighting why you chose these companies, the kind of projects you handled, the value you added to these projects, the skills you gained and the major takeaways you were able to attain throughout your internships.

Speaking of your extracurricular activities, you haven’t provided any information for and since schools are looking for a holistically developed profile, you should definitely shed some light on the same to showcase how you went above and beyond in your endeavours and how you will be a great value addition to the school. To give you a brief idea of how to go about with this, you can maybe talk about the clubs and associations you were involved in, the teams you led, certifications you undertook and most importantly your volunteering activities along with NGOs works. This part of your profile will basically highlight your soft skills paired with your social skills which will ultimately also pose an alibi for your low GPA.

Coming to the programs you are targeting, you have shown your inclination towards CEMS MiM at RSM or ESADE and your major concern here is that it is not well-ranked in the FT. Well, while the said programs may not hold a worldwide impressive rank, the brands you are looking at have a renowned reputation not just in their specific countries but also all around the globe. Having said that, once you graduate it all boils down to what brand you have on your CV. Additionally, these schools have a 90+ placement rate among the big 4 companies. Additionally, you have also mentioned how you are also thinking of opting for the ESCP program because of their 2 terms in Madrid and 2 terms in Paris course structure which is also a good option for you as it would fetch you a good amount of exposure and broaden your perspective.

To answer your query regarding the ESCP masters diploma course, let me tell you that firstly, it is not a diploma course but a full-fledged MiM program of 2 years and secondly, the ESCP MiM program ranks among the top 10 brands in the world which is why you should definitely move forward with your aim to pursue a degree there. Thus, what I would suggest for you is to get a degree and then work 2-3 years there leading to a stamp of international experience in your CV which will ultimately attract any employer around the globe, be it Switzerland or Spain.

Lastly, when you are targeting schools, it is always a good idea to target 6-8 schools in order to hedge your bets wisely. Hence, based on your preferences you can also consider the following schools:

In the dream category (schools where the chances of admission are 40-50%)- HEC, INSEAD
In the competitive category ( schools where chances of acceptance are 60-70%)- ESSEC, IE and FSFM.

All said and done, while you have a good profile, there will be thousands of applicants out there with similarly great profiles, which is why your application would play a huge role in enhancing your chances of getting accepted into your target schools. You would thus need to highlight your profile USP’s and how you can be a great addition to the school whilst posing the right examples to legitimize your claim. Additionally, you need to ensure that your LORs and Resume, equally depict the strengths of your profile that hold a 30% impact in the selection procedure.

That said, while the journey may seem tough to begin with, you can book a FREE 20-minute consulting session with our expert counsellors who can help chalk out a winning strategy that would boost your chances of acceptance by a minimum of 3x! The link is attached below:

Hey Iti24,

You have a pretty great profile,

Academically, you have an impressive GPA and undergraduate brand, which showcases your academic prowess. However, while your grades and brand do play an important part, you should highlight your extracurricular activities and other endeavors because AdComs are looking for applicants with holistically developed profiles

That said, you have a lot of achievements and varied roles, your winnings in theater and role as the president of the club showcase leadership skills and innate team spirit. Moreover, your participation in fests and societies, undertaking varied roles, showcase your proactiveness and ability to take initiative and lead teams. Highlighting the accolades you won here and how this has influenced your life would help authenticate your capability of creating impacts. Though to be clear, Adcoms are more interested in impact created rather than participation, hence adding quantifiable achievements in these activities would help enhance your application.

You have two social volunteering experiences which are again great value additions. These showcase your ability to take up initiatives, impact others, and empathize with other people. B-schools are looking for applicants that are future leaders and such experiences and qualities most certainly vouch for your abilities and strengthen your application.

Talking about your academic achievements, while they are impressive and showcase your academic inclination, they were all before your under-graduation and would not be considered, since most B-schools only focus on the applicant’s achievement and participation during their undergraduate and after.

As far as your internship and work experience goes, you ought to explain and highlight the major projects of your work and how these experiences helped to develop and further groom your skills and knowledge. Highlight why you chose these firms, how you have gone beyond the role, any initiatives you took, and any kind of impact created to establish a connection with your goals and portray the knowledge gained from these experiences. Properly highlighting this would allow you to stand at par with candidates with more extensive work experience hailing from the big 4 brands. That said, connecting your work experience and your decision to pursue a master’s degree is very important.

Coming to your GMAT, while you have a great quant score your overall GMAT score is a bit on the lower end, since you are targeting the MiM program at the top B-schools, you would require a score of 700 and above to increase your chances of acceptance. So retaking your GMAT to boost your score by 40 to 50 points would help make your application stronger and open up a wide variety of schools for you to target.

As for the schools you are targeting, LBS, LSE, and HEC come under the dream category while Imperial lands under the competitive category.
Dream schools have a very stringent acceptance rate of 12-15%. Hence, it is always better to target
a mix of dream, competitive, and safe schools, in order to hedge your bets wisely. Having evaluated your profile, I’d say you have a 50% chance of getting admitted to the schools in the dream category and a 70% chance of getting admitted to the schools in the competitive category, and a 90% chance for schools in the safe category.

To help you understand better, I’ve suggested a few competitive and safe schools that you
could be targeting:

Competitive: ESSEC, FSFM, IE, ESCP, ESADE
Safe: EDHEC, SKEMA, Grenoble

All said and done, while you have a good profile, there will be thousands of applicants out there with similarly great profiles, which is why your application would play a huge role in enhancing your chances of getting accepted into your target schools. You would need to highlight your profile USP’s and how you can be a great addition to the school whilst posing the right examples to legitimize your claim. Additionally, you need to ensure that your LORs and Resume, equally depict the strengths of your profile since your application( SOP, ESSAY, LOR & RESUME ) will hold a 30% value in the selection procedure.

That said, since each application takes 10-15 days to be perfected, you should start preparing your applications to these schools in parallel with your preparation for retaking the GMAT exam so that you can submit your applications for round two as soon as you get your GMAT score. On this note, if you are looking to target the top B-schools and want to prepare a strong application to meet the Round 2 deadlines right on time, you can check our comprehensive all in one solution that has helped thousands of applicants get into their dream schools including schools like HEC, LSE, and LBS!

Hi gharshit19,

Based on the information you have provided, your overall profile looks pretty competitive.

First and foremost, your GPA score of 7.6 is quite decent which showcases your academic prowess that can be further amplified by talking about the kind of projects, assignments and research paper you worked on since you have an engineering background. Furthermore, you have mentioned that you have completed your engineering from IIT Delhi which works in your favour since schools do tend to favour applicants from 10 colleges of any country.

Moving forward, your extracurricular activities are an important aspect of your profile since schools are looking for a holistically developed profile. Here, you have held leadership positions in your college societies which definitely works in your favour, plus you have also mentioned that you have participated in various forms of performing arts which again highlights your creativity and versatility. Lastly, you have got experience in volunteering works which showcases how you are socially responsible and would go above and beyond in your endeavours. Having experience in such diverse domains surely gives an edge to your profile. Moreover, you can further enhance your profile by mentioning how you honed your soft skills, added value to these endeavours, impacts you created, major takeaways and the exposure you gained from these experiences.

Coming to your work experience, you have got internship experience in data science at a local firm and in AI from a foreign consulting firm. Both of these experiences are decent enough and shows a lot of proactiveness from your end but what really stands out is your internship experience at EY as an analyst. EY is among the big four brands and would thus strengthen your profile further. However, when talking about work experiences you need to dig deeper by elaborating on why exactly you chose these companies, the kind of projects you handled, the value you added to these projects, the unique perspectives you’ve gained and the major takeaways you were able to attain from the same. This will allow you to stand out from the competition you’ll face.

When talking about your online certifications, though it would surely be a good addition to your profile, it wouldn’t really act as a differentiating factor since it has become quite a common practice among students these days. Having said that, these certifications can in a way display how you are constantly aiming for growth and learning.

Speaking of your international experience, you have mentioned that you are well-versed in german and french that again showcases your adaptability and broadened perspective which you can bring along with you in the cohort. Furthermore, you can highlight your adaptable nature by talking about how India, being a diverse land, gave you an opportunity through your leadership role in various extracurricular activities to interact with people from different backgrounds and walks of life. Along with this, you can also talk about your experiences with international clients during your stint at EY, if any.

Coming to your IELTS score, you are aiming for a 7.5 which is great but you need to keep one thing in mind that most schools offer a waiver if your formal education has been in English. So, you can check for the eligibility criteria in the schools you will be applying to and accordingly move forward with the decision of giving the exam or not. As for the GMAT, you are eyeing for a 710 which is exactly what you should be targeting since it will allow you to target most of the top-notch schools, in particular, HEC which ranks no. 2 worldwide.

Now when it comes to the schools you are targeting under the MiM program, you have mentioned HEC, LBS, LSE which comes under the dream category ( schools where the chances of admission are 40-50%) wherein ESSEC and ESCP come under the competitive category (schools where the chances of admission are 60-70%). Furthermore, you can add other great B-schools under your radar such as:

In the dream category you can consider; INSEAD, DUKE and CORNELL.

In the competitive category you can go for ESADE, IE, FSFM, UCD, and TCD.

In the safe category (schools where chances of admission are 80-90%) you can consider schools such as EDHEC, GRENOBLE and SKEMA.

Lastly, if you’re looking for a guiding light through your journey of applying to these top schools, you can Book A FREE consulting session with one of our expert consultants who will run you through the whole process and also help you with personalized suggestions and upgradation that you can do to further strengthen your chances of acceptance by a minimum of 3x!

Hey everyone,

I would like to apply to a few European MiM programs next year.
My profile is as follows:

Male, 25, from Germany

GPA: 4.0 (1,5 on the German Scale, Top 10%)

GMAT: 640 (1st attempt)

TOEFL: not taken yet, but aiming for 100+

International experience: none, but really would like to gain some (had no possibility during my bachelors degree)

Work experience:
- 3 years sales (during my bachelor degree; a joint program with a well known, international insurer)
- 3 months Big4 audit
- 2,5 years in consulting (fulltime in a smaller boutique; operations & strategy projects)
- 1 year as a business analyst (insurance)
- I also gained several certificates in project management, programming, soft skills, etc. (most of them on a voluntary basis in addition to my actual work)

Extras:
- I was a martial arts coach during the last 3 years of high school and trained kids, as well as adults
- voluntary financial coach for kids (visited schools and taught the fundamentals of money)
- initiated a small, local project against racism and discrimination

The programs I would like to apply for (from most favorite to least favorite): Mannheim (MMM), WU Vienna (SIMC, MiM or CEMS), SSE (MiM or CEMS)

How would you rate my chances?
I thought about retaking the GMAT, as I scored slightly higher in the official mocks (~660-680). But due to Covid, it is not possible for me to take another offline test, so I would need to try the online-version (which could affect my score negatively).

Are there any others good business schools that could be in my range?

Thanks in advance.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please don't hesitate to ask.

Best regards
