The proportion of boys to girls in the class are 12:8 or 3:2

We are given the average weight of the boys and girls are 80 and 70 pounds,

Therefore, the average weight of the class is $$\frac{3*80 + 2*70}{5} = \frac{380}{5} = 76$$(Option D)

Avg weight of 20 students = ( 12 x 80 + 8 x 70 ) / 20 = 76.
Option D
