In for Round 1! Looking forward to tackling this challenging application process.

It's demanding, but it brings out the best in all of us, I think.

Hi all,

Aaaah, application season has started. I was blessed enough to be admitted to Stanford GSB and I will be starting this fall (Class of 2016). The GMAT club was such a resource for me and I loved the sense of community that eased my nerves. I am an African applicant (management consulting and accounting background). I've started a VIDEO BLOG (my preferred medium) to reflect on my application process as well as actually going to b-school - the objective is to be of service to applicants by sharing my story (not that I am an admissions guru or anything) and also having some people join me on my journey.

 First Episode - Getting into Stanford GSB - Tips: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2Pcn_VQuDo
**The highs, the lows, the preparation - but most of all, the EMOTIONS** :-D

I hope you enjoy the videos and find them useful, send through any questions by commenting on my videos.

In for R1!

Thought I'd share the key takeaways from my Stanford GSB research.

- Innovation and risk-taking
- More similar to MIT Sloan [from my shortlist], i.e. technical/scientific and more entrepreneurial
- Collaborative instead of competitive
- Focus on leadership and experiential learning, students like to share feedback
- Small class and squad (5-6 people) size
- Grade non-disclosure policy
- Maybe more targeted at older candidates?
- Class of 2015: 7,108 applicants, 406 matriculating = 5.7% success rate! More stats here: https://topdogmba.com/2014/06/19/165/

This is from discussions with adcoms, professors, support staff, current students, alums and admission consultants. It is not complete, I may have put my own spin on things (linked to my specific interests) and some stuff may well have changed, but I'm hoping to spark a bit of debate and hopefully help your applications too.

Any thoughts?

Thank you for sharing; it's always nice to read blogs of other applicants!

Just want to point out one thing: for the Class of 2015, 7108 applied and 483 were accepted, making the "success rate" closer to 6.8% - 77 crazy people (my opinion!) just didn't matriculate. 6.8% is still painfully low, but every little bit helps!

Keep up the great blog :)
