Calling all Harvard MBA Applicants: (2017 Intake) Class of 2019!

I did not get an invite...but my college friend did at 12pm eastern time today. His stats are 3.4 GPA and 730 gmat in a well known aerospace company.

I know this is a case of wishful thinking however- don't you guys think there are a lot lesser invites gone out in the first deadline this time? Just 6 invites on application tracker (as against 80+ for Round 1).
Any ideas?

My coworker just called the office (against my advice), and he told me the lady would not give him any breakdown of the percent invites that got sent out yesterday. She claims that "sorry, we just don't have these numbers."

Just popping in with a friendly reminder to all HBS applicants who didn't get an interview invite yesterday: HBS is one of the most -- if not THE most -- transparent programs about their process. They tell you the exact dates people will hear about interview invites and final decisions. In previous years, they stated that more invites went out in the first wave. They did *not* state that this year! This is very, very, VERY important to keep in mind. What they did in past years has no relation to what is happening this year because they have always been upfront with information like that. If they had percentages, they would've stated them because they did in the past.

So the fact that they gave no breakdown, combined with the info below from the person that called, makes it crystal clear to me that there is still reason to keep hope alive for those still waiting. A client of mine who was accepted in Round 1 got his invite in the second wave -- it happens! Best of luck to everyone waiting to hear in a few more days!

I even did some quick stats as I noticed that for R1, about 16% people from this forum were invited to interview, whereas for R2, only 4% of them got an invite. Even though it's always a possibility that the best applicants all applied during R1, or that there are definitely fewer places at this stage, it sounds very unlikely that there are 4 times less invites... I am glad that Erika Olson mentioned that HBS never mentioned that this year that most invites would be sent during first wave - as I never heard about this before reading it on this forum.

I have heard rumours about grads from b-schools having their job offers rescinded because of the immigration ban, even if they are not from those countries. Have any of your friends suffered the same? This is very scary.

Good morning! We have had a busy few weeks, and we’re gearing up to send out our first wave of Round 2 interview invitations on Wednesday (Jan. 25) at noon Eastern. Remember, this is only a portion of the interview invites; the second (and final) wave will be distributed on Feb. 1. The online interview scheduler will go live the day AFTER interview invitations go out, so you have time to think about dates/times/locations that work for you. And, a reminder, we love to welcome you on campus for interviews, but your odds of acceptance are the same if you interview in a Global Hub city, via Skype, or on campus. All interviews everywhere are conducted by members of the Admissions Board. I know waiting is tough, but please don’t send in any additional information at this point. We consider your application complete once you hit submit.
