Meaning is Scientists are examining the body fat of pregnant rats who ate junk food(here rats are eating junk food)
so D and E are out.
Examining and found not parallel so C and B are out
Correct answer A

Option D & E are incorrect because of modifier error. As the option choices D & E indicate that scientists were examining rats while eating junk food. Option B & C are incorrect as they are fragments. Option A has no such errors and is the correct answer.

In D and E, "while eating junk food" is incorrect modifier. It doesn't make sense with "rats" and scientists.
In C, "and found" has no parallel structure.
In B, "and found" parallel is "who ate". It doesn't make sense that "rats ate X and found Y". Scientists found something.
So ans is A.

C- use of the -ing form creates tense error. It says as if rats were eating junk food during the time scientists were examining them, which changes the intended meaning.

D- while eating junk food creates the change in the intended meaning of the sentence.the sentence also changes the meaning as it means that the rat found i.e. wrong use of 'found'.

E- found here refers to rats which changes the intended meaning of the sentence.

B is the right answer

Here, the subject for verb develops is the propensity(singular), so the verb must be singular (develops), therefore B and D are out.

There is no subject for initial phrase - Scientists examining the body fat of pregnant rats who ate junk food- in C, so C is out.
E implies the wrong meaning - Scientists eating Junk food, so E is wrong. In A meaning is correct, so Answer is A

Key things to notice-

1. The correct tense should be "ate junk food" since the scientists examine the body fat of the rats who have already eaten junk food. So choices that use "eating junk food" use the incorrect verb tense.
2. The correct structure should use a verb in the present perfect tense for the subject "Scientists". Options using "and + found" will be incorrect because of lack of a complete verb in the first part of the sentence leading to parallelism error.

Sentence Analysis :

Scientists - Subject , examining: present participle acting as a modifier of scientists
Have found : Main Verb with correct Plural S-V agreement

Suspect : Propensity for Vs Propensity to (idiomatic usage) -> Not sure, but I guess both the usage is correct.

Option Analysis:

B, C, -> Main Verb missing ; Ruled out
D,E - > Ruled out for using while, which ambiguously portrays that scientists were examining rats and eating junk food simultaneously, an idea which the original sentence was not trying to state.

Therefore, Correct option is A.

A is correct as is.
B,C: Subject verb pair does not exist for Scientists. "and" should be replaced by "have"
D,E: These choices tell that scientists are examining while eating junk food which is not the meaning of the passage.

Hence, A is the correct choice.

My choice is (A). It took me 1:35.

(A) No major issues. I do not think "who" is commonly used for animals such as rats though.
(B) "and“ before "and found" is problematic as it tries to link "examining" and "found". They are incompatible.
(C) Same as above.
(D) Who is "eating junk food"? "pregnant rats' body fat" cannot eat junk food, so it must be "Scientists" who are "eating junk food". While comical, the sentence conveys incorrect meaning.
(E) Same as above.

A is good as is.

Realative pronoun error - 'who' is not prefered for animals. Hence eliminate
