[quote="luke2021"][u]Although considerable attention to the near extinction of the white sharks has been paid by environmentalists, in the western North Atlantic the white sharks appear more abundant than what have been usually reported, they should be sufficiently large species to continue their increase, barring renewed exploitation.

experts pl help me with the following questions

Imo the only difference between opt B and Opt C is the position of the sentences before and after semicolon. Apart from that i don't see any significant difference between them. now does this positioning matter i.e. more appropriate in one case than the other. In any way does the meaning of the whole sentence get affected by interchanging the positions of the sentences w.r.t. semicolon?

I chose C too, but then after re-reading I realise how stupid C is

B. Despite the considerable attention paid to the near extinction of white sharks by environmentalists, the white sharks in the western North Atlantic appear more abundant than has been usually reported; their numbers should be sufficient for the species to continue its increase, barring renewed exploitation.
meaning: despite all attention to extinction, white sharks are abundant, their numbers are sufficient to survive (considering we stop exploitation)

C. White shark populations are sufficiently large for the species to continue to increase, barring renewed exploitation; the considerable attention environmentalists have paid to the near extinction of the white shark populations in the western North Atlantic show that the numbers of white sharks appear more abundant than what has been usually reported.
meaning: white sharks are abundant to survive (considering we stop exploitation) the attention environmentalists paid to extinction shows that white sharks are abundant

I remember while reading it in first go I justified it as, environmentalists observed extinction but they could have found sharks to be enough to survive (but now when I re-read, I realise it says more abundant, that can't be)
