Hi, I am also wondering why D is incorrect, my first choice was (a) as well but seemed like a very extreme assumption to make.
Here is my take, I think the correct answer is (A) because it states the relationship between the quality of reporting and entertainment. Which was addressed by the journalist in the passage.
For (D), it tells about the relation between entertainment and reporting but on their qualities.
