-2 < x < -1
Distance has to be positive. For all values between -2 and -1, only 2 equations gives positive dsitance value
B.-3-4x
C. 2x+5

Now take x=1.5 so 3x+4 = -0.5 and |x-1|=2.5, so D=3
Subsitute in B, we get -3-4x=3 HEnce B is the asnwer

The distance between the two given expressions is:

E = ||x - 1| - (3x + 4)|

Since x is between -2 and -1, x < 1. Therefore:

|x - 1| = 1 - x

So,

E = |1 - x - (3x + 4)|

E = |-4x - 3|

Now, -4x - 3 > 0 when x < -3/4.

Since x is between -2 and -1, we know that x < -3/4.

Therefore:

E = -4x - 3 = -3 - 4x

Hence, the answer is B.

For all values of x between -2 and -1, what is the distance on the number line between 3x+4 and |x-1|?

x < 1; x-1<0; |x-1| = 1-x

Distance on the number line between 3x+4 and |x-1| = (1-x) - (3x+4) = 1 - x - 3x - 4 = -4x-3
