Hi AvalonQQ,

August 6th is a little over 6 weeks away - and that is not as much time study time as you think it is. Right now, we have no real idea about your current ability level, so I highly recommend that you take a FULL-LENGTH CAT (with the Essay and IR sections) sometime soon (perhaps this weekend). You can download 2 for free from www.mba.com (and they come with some additional practice materials). A FULL CAT takes about 4 hours to complete, so make sure that you've set aside enough time to take it in one sitting. Once you have that score, you should report back here and we can talk in more detail about your study plan.

Hey Rich, I'll do that and post the score here. I didn't want to give myself an excuse for doing badly (oh if you revised a bit you would've known how to deal with this sort of question) so I thought I'd give myself a week from now to do the CAT.

Just for my information though, if I'm targeting 700 on August 6th, my CAT score should be around 630 or so a month before? Or should I already be hitting my target?

Hi AvalonQQ,

Unfortunately, the improvement that Test Takers see during their practice is rarely 'linear', so progress from week-to-week will vary (and sometimes become stagnant). As such, scoring at a particular level 4 weeks before your Exam only means so much (you might make some big gains in the last 4 weeks or you might get 'stuck'). Regardless, you should do your best with this next CAT (and try to make it 'match up' with the schedule you'll follow on Test Day). That data will let us know how realistic your goal/timeline is and what you'll need to work on going forward.

Rich
