In an XY plane, a circle with radius 10 has the center at the origin. Does point P lie outside the circle?

Point O represents the origin (i guess)

Statement 1- Maximum distance between O and P is 3+7=10 cm (when O, Q and P lies on straight line and P and Q are on the same side of O). Hence, P can't be outside of the circle.

Sufficient

Statement 2- Clearly insufficient. We have no idea about distance b/w O and P.

Insufficient

But if OQ is the base of the right angle triangle and PQ being the hypotenuse the P would lie outside the circle?

The bigger circle has its center at origin O (given in the question). The smaller circle represents the locus of point P. You can see that it's always inside the circle except 1 point where it's tangent to the outer circle ( when O, Q and P are in straight line)

Hi nick1816,

The only mistake I did in the question is assuming O could be a point on the graph. Is there some kind of rule that O has to be the origin?
