After many iterations, I found a great way of creating a personal
error log for GMAT prep and would like to share it with everyone.
Step 1: Create an excel sheet with 3 tabs: Verbal, Quant and IR
Step 2: Create the following columns:
SR.NO. | QUESTION SOURCE | QUESTION TYPE | QUESTION SUB-TYPE | ERROR | TIME TAKEN
Step 3: Be strict and candid enough in writing EXACTLY why you got the question wrong. At the same time, be detailed in explaining the steps that led up to the error. It's okay even if you spend more time reviewing the questions than solving them.
Some sample values can be:
1 | GMAT Quant OG | PS | Statistics | "Given w,x,y and z, is range > 2? Given w-z>2; This should be sufficient; Didn't realise it and took simplest solution"
Doing this over time will leave you with a clearer sense of which question types trip you up and if you're repeating your mistakes. Also, since you're going to be solving questions from many different sources, it makes sense not to depend on one particular platform.
Pro-tip: Take screenshots of the questions you get wrong along with their explanations and store it in a word document.
