Rama’s age is 1/5th of her father’s age. Rama’s father’s age will be thrice of Karan’s age after 7 years. If Karan’s fifth birthday was celebrated two years before, then what is Rama’s present age ?

Let the ages of the persons be as shown in the table:

From the first statement, R = (\(\frac{1}{5}\)) F.
From the second statement, F + 7 = 3 (K + 7)
It is mentioned that Karan turned 5 years old, two years before. This means that Karan's present age should be 7 years.
Therefore, K = 7.
Substituting this value in the second equation, we have, F + 7 = 3 (7 + 7).
Upon simplification, we get F = 35.
Substituting this in the first equation, we have, R = (\(\frac{1}{5}\)) 35 = 7 years.
The correct answer option is B.
