System of equations. You obviously don’t need to solve til the end as I did. I did for didactic purposes.

S1: x+y=3, doesn't say anything about x+y. Hence not sufficient
S2: (x – 1)(y – 1) = 4;
=> xy - (x+y) +1=4; what is the value of x+y?. Hence not sufficient
S1 + S2: from S1, x+y=3,
So xy - (x+y) +1=4, xy= 4-1+ (x+y) = 3+3=6
C, as sufficient by combining both statements
