We can solve this question either by observation or by assuming a value for each square unit.
Let each of the smaller square box be of 1 unit.
Side of the outer square = 6 unit
Area = 36 \(unit ^ 2\)
Area of the shaded region = \(\frac{1}{2}* 6 * 6 = 18 unit^2 \)
Percentage = 50%
