How to go from 645 to 705?

Question

I gave the GMAT online day before yesterday and scored 655 (still waiting for official scores) and thought to retire from the GMAT but unfortunately Iim Ahmedabad and Iim Bangalore do require test centre scores for pgpx . anyway , as you can see it took me long to achieve this score with many ups and downs in my life from 510 in legacy GMAT to this in GMAT focus but nevertheless iam very proud of my score given I have many health issues to deal with . on an optimistic note I was scoring 730 in legacy gmat mocks so this score dont do justice so it's a blessing in disguise for me to give the GMAT again since iam targeting top b schools and would want advice of this lovely gmat famiIy on how can I increase my score to 705 ?I have two and half to three weeks for my next attempt.i would also like to thank more importantly marty Murray

Gmatguruny for all the help they do on the forum through their posts and replies.Also special thanks to bb for creating this lovely family.Meanwhile ,if any of the GMAT club family members can help me or recommend me for a job ,I would really appreciate the help .Iam right now based in Dubai and would work from home or hybrid .If anyone has any lead, I would share my resume. iam struggling without the job as I have some huge medical bills and family to take care for .Thank you .

sure sir ,here is my performance .in quant iam not that good in algebra while in verbal iam terrific in cr so its a surprise .while in di i have missed the final di question so i have been penalized too.Iam thinking to give exam again under two weeks .

So, the good news is that you are in a pretty nice spot!

That said, you must continue to find your holes and fix them to improve your score. Topical practice is a great way to do that.

For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.

sagarnamo1 655 is not bad at all. You should be proud. I have seen people get in with lower scores. But if you feel you have a higher score in you, definitely go for it. Hi sagarnamo1.

If you left a DI question unanswered, your score would have been 30 to 40 points higher if you had just answered that question. So, one thing you can do to maximize your score is make sure that you at least guess on every question.

In addition, it appears that you have some Quant topics you can improve in, possibly including Inequalities and Absolute Value and Properties of Numbers. So, another move you can make is to work on each of those topics by first reviewing the concepts and strategies a topic involves, then practicing untimed until you achieve high accuracy in the topic, and finally working on speeding up until you're answering  questions involving that topic at test pace.

Then move on to the next shaky topic and do the same thing.

For CR, you could practice untimed, and see if the tips in this post help you get CR questions correct more reliably.

Also, you could practice one topic after another using the streaks method to improve the consistency with which you get questions correct.
