Concept: Men * Days = Work
Given,
Three men (M) and five children (C) complete some work in 4 days => [3M + 5C] * 4 = 1 ( Let the same work be 1)
Simplifying, 12M + 20C = 1----- eq.1
Similarly, five men and four children complete the same work in 3 days => [5M + 4C]*3 = 1
=> 15M + 12C = 1 ---- eq.2
By solving eq.1 & eq.2 , we get efficiency of Men & Child for 1 day. ( i.e how much work can be done by 1 Men or 1 Child in 1 Day)
=> C = 1/52 & M = 8/(52*3)
Now, time [let x days] required for three men and one child to finish 9/13th of the work is given by:
[3M + 1C]* x = 9/13
By putting values of M & C in above eq. we get, x = 4
Answer: C
