Hi Experts and fellow aspirants,
I am writing this after a heartbreaking GMAT Attempt where I got a 555 when I was confident about getting a 640+. The deadlines for my target b-schools are starting mid-september and as of now after the attempt yesterday, I am feeling comletely lost and demotivated about how else to approach my prep. I gave my first gmat attampt in March 2024 and that was terrible. The attempt yesterday was a 100 points improvement but still not enough to get me admission into my target b-schools
Little bit about me: I come from a non STEM background and have struggled with Quant for a major part of my life but I thought I am finally at a place where quant questions do not seem scary. the way that I have been practicing is that I have identified few topics where I am weak (e.g- Number properties, overlapping sets etc) and can do better whereas a few others like probability where I struggle alot, I have decided to guess mark those questions in case they appear in the actual GMAT. (To my luck, there were atleast 3 questions that came from probability in the official GMAT yesterday). I also bought the official 3-6 mocks and have been consistently scoring in the 555-585 range but have been stuck in it. Please see screenshot below in detail from an official mock where I scored 555 (which is the same score as my GMAT attempt. Attaching this since they have not yet released the official report)
Overall : Score 555. For breakdown please see attached titled "official mock overall"
Quant: Score 73. For breakdown on specific topics please see attached titled "Quant"
DI: Score 75. For breakdown on specific topics please see attached titled "DI"
Verbal: Score 84. For breakdown on specific topics please see attached titled "Verbal"
As you can see, DI and Quant are major areas where I lack. When I review these questions after the mock, it seems easy and almost seems like I could have done those had there been the slightest of an idea strike. So right now I am just stuck at what else am I supposed to do and how to approach the preparation now. Do I start from scratch and revise all topics? Do I identify weak areas and only do those questions? where do I do the questions from? and a whole lot of other questions that are causing a storm in my mind
Reaching out to everyone who sees this post for help desperately as I am lost and don't know what else to do now to ensure that I score higher in the next GMAT attempt. Please suggest how to approach my study and close that gap of 50-60 points because I know I can.

For RC, becoming familiar with how inference questions work could be helpful. For Quant, going through your error-log to identify the types of questions you find difficult could be useful as well. When reviewing questions, consider checking out their gmatclub threads to see the solutions/explanations people have posted. You could also get the gmatclub math guide. It can be downloaded as a PDF and includes content on Probability, Overlapping Sets, etc.

So, the good news is that you are in a pretty nice spot.
That said, you must continue to find your holes and fix them to improve your score. Topical practice is a great way to do that.
For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.
After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?
By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant, verbal, and DI topics.
