Background
1. Indian, female.
2. Will graduate in 2021 from a engineering course. My university is a big name in India but falls in 801-1000 QS World rankings.
3. CGPA: 7.75/10. Since I have got two more semesters to go, I'll make sure it goes above 8/10.
Volunteer work/Extracurriculars :
1. Did a lot of extracurriculars in college. These include heading the chapter of a volunteer organisation in my college, worked with as a content writer for an instagram page similar to @officialhumansofny and part of the economics club of my college.
2. Outside college, I volunteered with an organisation that aims to bring more women into STEM.
3. Also involved in debates a.k.a the MUNs(Model United Nations) not sure if the concept is widely known/recognised.
Work experience :
1. Did an internship with an organisation where I mentored a team to hone their soft skills. (3 Months)
2. I believe the content writer part can be included here as well? ( 6 months )
3. Have a full time offer as Business tech Consultant from one of the Big Four ( My expected joining is in August 2021)
Test Scores :
Yet to take an exam
Career Goals :
Would like to join one of the big Strategic Consulting companies sometime in future
Target Schools
MIT, HBS, Wharton, Kellogg, Insead, NYU, Booth
Pros:
1. Since I am starting out with my career, I have the option to mould it my way to optimise my chances of getting selected.
2. Heading the local chapter of the voluntary organization can go in my favour.
3. Worked with people from diverse backgrounds and can gain LORs from my intern organisation to testify this, which again, has gained goodwill.
4. Can chose the relevant YOE before applying, depends on the trends of the B School at that time.
Cons:
1. Low undergrad CGPA. Even though the graph is a dip for one semester, the rest are steadily increasing. (last four are : 6.9, 7.6, 8.2, 9.4)
2. My undergrad university is a private one. Not sure how it may harm me.
3. I never liked to code. Since my major was Computer Science, I believe the question "Why did you chose a relatively non tech position" can be relatively disadvantageous.
My concern here is that when should I realistically apply? Which B schools do I stand a chance at? How is the quality of my profile? And lastly, What additional can I do in my soon-to-be job/on the side to make my profile stronger?
