Because of a New product the sales of an existing product went down------>similar to what the stimulus says.....Because the Audio recordings are avaialable now...the sales of books went down. In both the cases former is responsible for later to happen.

The correct answer choice should match the idea as stated in the question i.e due to increase/Up (positive) in A , decrease/down (negative) in B.
so the correct answer choice will be :
(C) Because a new brand of soft drink entered the market, consumers reduced their consumption of an established brand of soft drink.

Books = NOUN.
This question is about || reasoning with a cause & effect relationship. We need to find not only the || structures in the two parts but also matching objects (nouns) in the two parts.

(A) Because of the rising cost of farm labor, farmers began to make more extensive use of machines. [No match. Incorrect]
(B) Because of the wide variety of new computer games on the market, sales of high-quality computer video screens have improved. [No match. Incorrect]
(C) Because a new brand of soft drink entered the market, consumers reduced their consumption of an established brand of soft drink. [Perfect match. [color=#4000FF]Correct[/color]]
(D) Because a child was forbidden to play until homework was completed, that child did much less daydreaming and focused on homework. [Partial match but sentences are not in Sync. Incorrect]
(E) Because neither of the two leading word processing programs has all of the features consumers want, neither has been able to dominate the market. [No match. Incorrect]
