Modern politicians may reach a large number of people by appearing on television, but the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value because it allows the masses to meet their potential representatives face to face.

(A) television, but the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value because it allows >>> Correct. The use of contrast opinion must have "but.
(B) television, but the old style of door-to-door campaigning still would have value because of it allowing >>> Wrong. "because of it allowing the masses to ....." is wrong.
(C) television; however, there is still value in the old style of door-to-door campaigning by allowing >>> Wrong. "there is still value.... by allowing" is awkward.
(D) television, the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value because it allows >>> Wrong. The contrast meaning is unclear.
(E) television, when the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value in allowing >>> Wrong. "when" is wrong.

(A) television, but the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value because it allows
-- That's it !!

(B) television, but the old style of door-to-door campaigning still would have value because of it allowing
-- wrong. The value of old-style campaign still persist today;"because of it allowing" is awkward.

(C) television; however, there is still value in the old style of door-to-door campaigning by allowing
-- wrong. The construction is not concise.

(D) television, the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value because it allows
-- wrong. Run-on sentence.

(E) television, when the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value in allowing
-- wrong. The meaning is awkward.Modern politician may reach a large number of people only when the old style campaigning still has value!!

Thanks for your question.
Please correct me if anything is wrong. :-D

A. Correct.

B. "Because of it allowing" is wrong. "Because of " is a preposition which must be followed by noun only. Because is a conjunction and it follows a clause.

C. Semicolon is used with conjunction. ; + however is in correct. Use semicolon to introduce a list or to introduce explanation.

D. It is a run on sentence connecting two clauses without conjunction.

E. It is a run on sentence connecting two clauses without conjunction.

It's A.

(A) television, but the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value because it allows – Looks good. The old style of door to door campaign should use Present perfect and we need the contrast.
(B) television, but the old style of door-to-door campaigning still would have value because of it allowing - still would have is incorrect.
(C) television; however, there is still value in the old style of door-to-door campaigning by allowing – “;” is not required. The rest of the sentence is wordy.
(D) television, the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value because it allows - no contrast here “but” not available.
(E) television, when the old style of door-to-door campaigning still has value in allowing – changes the meaning – incorrect.
