Hi Janielle , I have used
Magoosh and the Kaplan 2015 review text for verbal review. Verbal is the most difficult for me and has killed my overall score. I scored a 20 on the Verbal.
All I'm trying to get is a 650 for the grad programs I'm applying for, but the verbal has killed me. I read articles from Business Insider, and difficult books but it doesn't seem to help.
Hi mrw07080,
A score of 20 on the Verbal suggests that you are facing problems in all the three sub sections: SC, CR and RC
While you have figured out the problem for the RC section, have you tried to delve deep in the CR and SC sections?
SC sections can be improved easily if you pay attention to certain concepts.
Always focus on the following things while solving a question: SV agreement, parallelism, modifiers and usage of certain words -such as, like, which that etc.
You will find that you can easily remove incorrect options by paying attention to the above things.
Regarding CR, pre thinking is always helpful. Make sure you read the question stem first and then read the premise in the light of the question. This will give you a vague idea about what the answer should be.
For the RC, unfortunately you need to practice more and try to stick to on strategy.
When do you plan to give the GMAT?
