Hi again
So I took two GMAT focus mocks and two GRE mocks.
GRE Quant isn't bad sitting at 150 when I need 160. Verbal though is 143 when I need something like 156. I have to admit though that the exam didn't put me through a lot of anxiety like the Classic or Gmat Focus exam does. The RC paragraphs in GRE are actually shorter and some questions seemed quite straightforward .. like highlight an example in the paragraph or a highlight a conclusion. I am thinking that if I put some effort with learning more vocab, this score can improve? Also GMAT RC is longer, denser and I seem to always need lot of time to solve CR properly. my verbal score seemed to sink in gmat focus without SC though.
GRE Quant seemed really way less challenging than the GMAT classic and GMAT focus. To put it in perspective, if I attempt GRE mock quant untimed, I would be able to get them probably all correct. but if I attempt GMAT focus quant mock untimed both versions, I wouldn't even get 75% of questions correct.
Also, I felt that GMAT focus needs continuous focus throughout the 3 sections, which felt like it needs a higher stamina than the classic gmat where you mentally know that you have 2 sections to tackle .. then you are somehow calmer. the score was quite low in both gmat focus mocks, something around 385, as if I didn't study ever for GMAT earlier. it could be because I forgot some content, but it seems that the new format just increases my anxiety level and requires a concentration for a longer period. With GRE, although it has 4 sections, they went so fast though and you mentally categorize the sections to two sections eventually, which kind of helps you redirecting your focus and somehow makes you feel more that things are under control. When I didn't know the vocab, I tried my best to pick based on the best meaning, and I seemed to get away with it in some questions.
Regarding Data insight in GMAT focus, it didn't seem impossible, but I am afraid I was getting easy questions as the score didn't turn out to be a decent one eventually. The MSR took forever to solve and the only strategy I could think of is that DS should be solved really quickly to spare time for other question types like MSR, and two part analysis, and table analysis.
If I reflect from the mocks, I am thinking 2 or 3 months should be enough to boost my GRE score to where I want it, with some vocab learning and increasing my speed in Quant through practicing more questions. but with GMAT, I don't really know if even 4 or 5 months will be sufficient with the Focus version, knowing that I would aim for a minimum of 565 as a score.
What is your opinion with all this information given in my first post as well as my follow up post?
Thanks in advance.
