Saket runs twice on a circular track at a uniform speed. Bidhan starts at the same time as Saket and after Bidhan has completed one lap, he stops and Sunny starts and completes the second lap at a uniform speed. It is given that they start the race exactly at 2:30 pm and the track is 500 m in circumference. Sunny runs at a speed of 5 km/h greater than that of Bidhan and Saket's Speed is 2 km/h greater than that of Bidhan. When does Saket finish the second lap if sunny also finishes at the same time?
A. 2:33
B. 2:34
C. 2:32
D. 2:35
E. 2:36
Are You Up For the Challenge: 700 Level Questions Let the speed of Bidhan = B
So, the speed of Saket will be = B+2
Speed of Sunny will be = B+5
From the question stem time taken by Saket to complete two laps = Time taken by Bidhan and Sunny to complete the same distance.
Distance is 500metres or 1/2 km.
Saket completed 1 Km.
Bidhan and Sunny completed 1/2Km
So equation:
1/B+2 = 0.5/B + 0.5/B+5
On solving this we will get B = 10.
Time taken by Saket = 1/12 hours converting into minutes = 5minutes.
They all started at 2:30 so they all will finish the lap in next 5 minutes = 2:35 pm.
D is the answer.
