b The BBC reporter says that, since taking control of the capital, security forces have arrested -correct

c The BBC reporter, since taking control of the capital, says security forces -wrong modifier . means BBC reporter took controlof the capital

d Security forces, since taking control of the capital, have, the BBC reporter says, arrested -awkward

e Security forces have arrested the BBC reporter since taking control of the capital -changes the meaning

I would go with B too.

Noboru, I don't think says always requires that...

But I chose B over A for other reasons. Mainly in A, the modifier is wrong. It seems to imply that the BBC reporter took control which is wrong.

Here that is required as that introduces a subordinate clause

agreeing with B. says that...that is needed here..and is placed in the very beginning of the sentence is better than the others choices...

I pick D. Modifiers are correctly modifying Security forces. lots is commas making it a bit tough.

OK after re reading the option D, I am not sure abt D ....so I am leaning towards B ...

Please post OE if you can..

B for me; it's the only choice that "since taking control of the capital" modify "Security forces"
