good find terp - thanks for sharing!

I think the take home lesson is that if you aren't 100% certain of why you're getting an MBA (not including "more money" or "to transform my life"), you'd better do more research. Find some alumni that are doing what you want to do and come up with a plan. I think if you've got a "everything will be fine if I get an MBA" mentality, you'll be in for a nasty surprise.
I agree refurb.

I definitely agree. I ran across this blog (and other articles like it) when researching b-schools, and while the mindset of moving up to ever-increasing salaries based on an HBS or Wharton degree may be present for some, the assumption that this is why all people go to b-school is clearly flawed. (As is the math -- I make a lot less than $80k/year, so the ROI comes out very, very positive for me even if I come out of b-school making $80-85k.) I also really need the network and business skills; I'm in an industry where almost no one has an MBA, so I can still advance for quite a while, but I want to do that without one hand tied behind my back (how I feel now).

However, it's true some people go to b-school (or law school) without opening their eyes to the realities. Useful article for those who believe they'll jump to McKinsey or GS right after b-school without breaking a sweat.
