The cost of transatlantic air fare has nearly doubled over the past 5 yrs, yet the airlines are doing a booming buisness. Clearly, people today have more money to spend on vacations than they did five yrs ago.

All of the following, if true, would weaken the argument above EXCEPT:

a) Most ppl buying transatlantic tickets use them for buisness trip, so air fare is refunded by their companies
b) there are fewer airlines in existence today than 5 yrs ago
c) ppl are taking shorter vacations and staying in cheaper hotels than they used to
d) Crossing Atlantic by ship requires more tine than ppl can afford
e) Domestic airline flights have seen a steady increase in passengers

agree and OA is E.

how do you guys do these EXCEPT problem. I always get confused after first 2-3 choices .. as to what I was supposed to do. And then eventually end up with choosing wrong answer.

"All of the following, if true, would weaken the argument above EXCEPT:"

If I re-read the EXCEPT question as "which of the answer choices would not weaken the argument"

or

"which of the answer choices would either be neutral or strengthen the argument".

then it helps me eliminate the answer choices.
