The fear of rabies is well founded; few people are known to recover from the disease after the appearance of the clinical symptoms.

(A) few people are known to recover from the disease after the appearance of the clinical symptoms ->awkward usage of "known to have"-> eliminate it

(B) few people are known to have recovered from the disease once the clinical symptoms have appeared-> awkward usage of "known to have", eliminate it

(C) there are few known people who have recovered from the disease once the clinical symptoms have appeared->sounds good, hold it

(D) after the clinical symptoms appear, there are few known people who have recovered from the disease->sentence correction seems awkward, eliminate it

if D were to be there are few known people who have recovered from the disease after the notice of clinical symptoms , would it be correct?

(E) recovery from the disease is known for only a few people after the clinical symptoms appear-> awkward usage, eliminate it.

I got the answer right, but want to make sure my logic of elimination is right.

B for me too.
In C, 'few known people' indicates ambiguity.
Whts the OA, prasanna?

Agree with B as well.
A, "known" is past tense but uses "recover" which sounds awkward.
C sounds awkward and wordy.
