Area of given figure = area of ABCD + area of RSTU + area of PQUD

area of ABCD = length * breadth
area of ABCD = 13*9
area of ABCD = 117 -----------(1)

area of RSTU = length * breadth
area of RSTU = 4*7
area of RSTU = 28 -----------(2)

area of PQDU = length * breadth
area of PQDU = 3*(QR+RU)
area of PQDU = 3*(QR+7) ----------------(3)

Area of given figure = 117 + 28 + 3*(QR+7)

we need value of QR to know the area of given figure.

statement 1= QR = 4
putting value,
Area of given figure = 117 + 28 + 3*(4+7)
Area of given figure = 117 + 28 + 3*11
Area of given figure = 117 + 28 + 33
Area of given figure = 178
(sufficient)

Statement 2: No specific value

hence Answer is A

PQ must be 3, because we know the total horizontal distance across the diagram is 20 meters, and we know two of the horizontal lengths along the top are 13 and 4. So there's only one dimension we don't know, namely QR, and Statement 1 is sufficient and Statement 2 is not.

There is no reason to care whether QR is an integer here, so I'm not sure why one of the above solutions raises that question.

The figure above shows the floor plan and inside dimensions of the ground level of a building. If all lines that intersect meet at right angles, what is the total floor area of this level of the building?

(1) QR = 4 meters
(2) PQ is less than QR.

We can find PQ = 20 - 13 - 4 so the only part we are missing from this graph is QR or the vertical length connecting the 13m.

Statement 1:
Sufficient.

Statement 2:
Doesn't give an exact value of QR. Insufficient.
