If the area of the square floor is 20000 sq ft,
the side of the floor must be $$\sqrt{20000}$$ = 141.4 ft

Hence, the side of the floor is approximately 140 feet (Option A)

Area of square = $$Side^2$$ = 20,000
Side = $$\sqrt{20000}$$ = Approx 141

Let a side of square-shaped floor = $$s$$

$$s^2 = 20,000$$

$$\sqrt{s^{2}} = \sqrt{20,000}$$

$$s = \sqrt{10,000*2}$$

$$s = 100\sqrt{2}$$ , and $$\sqrt{2}$$ approx = $$1.4$$

$$s = (100)(1.4)$$

$$s = 140$$

Since area of a square = side^2, we have:

20,000 = side^2

√20,000 = side

We see that the length of each side of the square is √20,000 = √10,000 x √2 ≈ 100 x 1.4 = 140.
