If the area of the square floor is 20000 sq ft,
the side of the floor must be \(\sqrt{20000}\) = 141.4 ft

Hence, the side of the floor is approximately 140 feet (Option A)

Area of square = \(Side^2\) = 20,000
Side = \(\sqrt{20000}\) = Approx 141
Answer (A) 140

Let a side of square-shaped floor = \(s\)

\(s^2 = 20,000\)

\(\sqrt{s^{2}} = \sqrt{20,000}\)

\(s = \sqrt{10,000*2}\)

\(s = 100\sqrt{2}\) , and \(\sqrt{2}\) approx = \(1.4\)

\(s = (100)(1.4)\)

\(s = 140\)

Since area of a square = side^2, we have:

20,000 = side^2

√20,000 = side

We see that the length of each side of the square is √20,000 = √10,000 x √2 ≈ 100 x 1.4 = 140.

Answer: A
