Hello,
1. Can we eliminate options C and D on the basis of them missing the parallel marker - "rather than" as well
2. In option E - we know "request" is a command subjunctive, what form of the verb "be" could we add to correct this sentence (ignoring the preposition and parallelism problem)

Hello, yashwardhan. My apology for not answering sooner, but I have been busy tutoring all day (a good problem for a tutor to have). Good eye on the missing rather than parallel marker in options (C) and (D). I did not draw attention to the issue earlier because although rather than is preferred when indicating preference over out-and-out replacement, there can be instances in which instead of is followed by an infinitive, so I did not want to declare something absolutely false when there are exceptions to the rule. The grammar sources I have consulted just toss in a line in passing about how instead of is not typically followed by an infinitive, and that muddles the picture. Rather than use the rather than/instead of split to dismiss answers, I singled out what I perceived to be easier targets. As for the second question, if I were to rewrite option (E) in a grammatically consistent manner, I might go with something like the following:

that she interview A&B Company's CEO for the front-page story of a major daily newspaper rather than speak to

If you wanted to work in to be somewhere, then I guess I will ask just where you would like it to appear: that she be... something?
