Clearly C, D, E are out as we need to use increase right after 30-40 fold.

caused by generally takes a noun.

Also, immunity to /resistance to is the correct usage. Hence B is correct.

Agree, but I dont like "because of" in B, even though Because of +noun. "Because of" cannot modify "increase"

I'll go with B, in A "resistance against", correct idiom is resistance to

Just go for B because of correct usage of "resistance to", but I am still not in favor of "because of" in B, I would prefer "caused by". Could anyone explained for me the difference between because of and caused by? Or they are the same? B is the correct answer just for the difference between "resistance to/against"?

Because of - is a two - word preposition, used before a noun or a pronoun

so increasing (gerund) acting as noun here...
