Question-3

Saving of language requires good data and will by natives. If natives are not interested/motivated then mathematical models will not help much. So Answer has to be A for question-3

B. The mathematical models used for Gaelic language are simplistic and not applicable to these languages-- So what. Some other mathematical model can work. We may require more work but it does not mean that mathematical mean CANNOT save these languages.
C. Statistics of speakers of these languages have not been properly documented. -- Similar to B. Requires more work but it doesn't help us in believing that Mathematical model cannot save language.

Possible weakeners -

i. It will be difficult to build models that will provide accurate results, significantly

A. Correct - saving a language requires good data and will by natives. If natives are not motivated, then mathematical models will not help much.
B. Out of scope - As per this choice, we may need a more comprehensive model. This does not imply that mathematical models cannot save these languages.
C. Out of scope - Similar to B, implies that this requires more work but does not reduce our belief in the model's ability to save the language
D. Strengthener - it states that ONLY mathematics can save the language.
E. Out of scope - The interest of linguists has no bearing on the result

IMHO the answer to the 3rd question requires reconsideration @workout GMATNinja

Option A could be a reason and so could be Option C. The passage suggests that the

"Anne Kandler and her colleagues decided to make a mathematical model of the speakers of Scottish Gaelic. This was an apposite choice because the local population was already becoming increasingly conscious about the cultural value of their language and statistics of the Gaelic speakers was readily available. The model the mathematicians built not only uses statistics such as the number of people speaking the languages, the number of polyglots and rate of change in these numbers but also figures which represent the economic value of the language and the perceived cultural value amongst people."

I simply fail to understand how can someone even consider that Option C Statistics is out of scope. It has a huge role to play as per the passage.

IMHO
Both of the answers weaken the argument.
However, choice A weaken the most.

The mathematical model requires the statistic of the speakers and the perceived value of the languages to the community

Choice A directly address the required variable "The perceived value of the languages to the community" as the input to the model.
Choice B does not directly address the model input (in this case, the statistic of the speakers). Not properly documented does not mean that the statistic cannot be obtained. If the answer B mentioned that the statistics of the speaker cannot be obtained, then both of the choice will have a similar effect of weakening.

I still do not aling with this answer selection, as not the entirety of passage involved math in language preservation. We talked about languages and how is it going extince and then linguistics have been trying to save then but it is tough then we talk about the math model. It comes way later, in my opinion i don't think this can be the central idea of the passage. It should be more emphasised on language than math, math model was only an example

Your doubt is that mathematics appears only after the language-extinction setup, so it may seem secondary. But that setup is just the problem the passage introduces.

The passage’s main development is: languages are going extinct, preservation is difficult, and mathematical models can help linguists plan preservation strategies. The Scottish Gaelic case is not merely an example of language preservation; it is the key example showing how mathematics helps.

So the focus is not “languages” alone. The focus is how mathematics can help preserve endangered languages. That is why E is more precise.

Para 2 immediately begins with Mathematicians can help linguists out on this mission ...
In light of this option E works best ... bulk of the passage is about how mathematical models can help in the preservation of a language and culture
