@Orange08 SC was quite hard for me, but it might be b/c I was doing well and getting the difficult questions. There were many with errors I didn't recognize. For those, my suggestion is to find errors in the answer choices, eliminate those, then compare the remaining choices and the original, and pick the sentence that conveys the idea most clearly and and concisely.

@resh No, CR was my strongest section so I didn't study much for that. My only advice is to make sure you identify the type of question and write it down (ie: strengthen argument, identify assumption, etc.) That prevents you from getting confused when you get down to the answers.

congratulations! there are actually a few of us girls on here, but I think we'll have to get used to being outnumbered (although I have a feeling most of us work in male dominated fields already!)

1. Use the time given to read test instruction to write down formulas/grammer rules/awa templates- I picked up this piece of advice from a post in this forum, and it helped me immensely. Writing down critical pieces of information ensures you won’t forget them in the midst of the test, and calms and centers your mind before the start of each section.

Is this allowed? I am hearing this for the first time? :-D

@ezhilkumarank Yes, you can write things done before starting the section, but ONLY in the timed portion of the instructions. You can't write anything down before the clock starts ticking. I finished my awa a bit early, so I also took that time to write down some quant stuff.

*waves hi @Jeanette and Resh* :)

Unfortunatly, I don't much advice on verbal that hasn't been rehashed many times in this forum. It helped that I like to read alot, so reading comprehension was relatively easy for me. A general strategy for verbal that I would recommend is to write down A B C D E for every question. There will be at least 1-2 answer choices that's obviously wrong. If you can cross those out, you can concentrate on the remaning three, and worst come to worst, make a guess.

Hello tigercub!

I absolutely agree with almost all your Lessons learned. Just as if I have written all that myself ;)

The only problem is with point 6:
tigercub
6.Don’t bother with hard questions- unless you have a lot of spare time and are aiming for 750+, hard questions are probably a waste of time. I barely did any.

Me personally, I found quantitative problems on the real test harder than in the GMATPrep and OG12.

Hmm, I didn't do that great on quant so I can't really speak on that side  My issue with difficult questions on both verbal and quant are they often test obscure concepts. There's a handful of things that's pretty much guaranteed to turn up on the test (ie triangles, parallel sentence structure). I think it's more efficient to focus on the variations on the common topics rather than the unusual stuff. Just my two cents :-D
