Alumni Interview - courtesy wait for response

Question

Hey guys - I'm trying to schedule a Wharton alumni interview. First alum I contacted was great, but had to cancel due to a re-assignment overseas. Second alum is not responding for 48 hours. I was wondering, how long to wait before going further down the list?

I know all the alums are busy people, but all of a sudden there's only a couple of weeks left until the deadline, all the campus spots are filled, and I fear I might be left out of luck, if I don't act fast. Thanks for any input!

I would say 3-4 full business days. If still no reply, send them a kind MSG that you will be moving on and looking for someone else.

Thanks longhorn07 - actually the alum just responded and I'm all set. It's good to have a general cut-off though, and I think yours sounds reasonable.

48 hours is probably a good number. You're under a deadline to be interviewed and the alumni have agreed to be interviewers. They need to be as responsive to you as well.

In the initial email, as a courtesy I would also mention the timeline set by the school, so they know off the bat whether they can fit you in their schedule or not. Alums are more or less removed from the admissions process and are not necessarily aware of deadlines as a general rule.
