How rare / frequently does this happen? I ask because I just took my third MGMAT practice test and bombed the verbal after doing well on the previous 2. My verbal went down significantly and I think a large cause of that was having 2 RC passages in row. Let me know what you guys think. Took these tests approximately 3 weeks apart with the 33 as my latest score. Thanks.

IMO - no one really knows (besides GMAT people...). I believe that even if it a possibility, its a very rare one.
But you should ask yourself and debrief - why it took your score down? are you doing the RC right? are you wasting too much time? how can you make sure the RC is not such a weak point in your exam?
I came across 2 passages in a row last Nov D-day. It is very much possible, infact one of my friend came across 2 passages in row in beginning of verbal section
Personally, I'd love to get two passages in the start. That way, at most, I have to worry about one hard passage coming up near the end, or a not-so-hard one, in the middle.
I would love that. By the second one, you're sure to be in a groove and nail all of them.
