Hi wayahead123,
Thanks for the advise. I was thinking the same. The mock tests I have done so far was the
MGMAT tests. Believe me, I have been going through a range of around 600-650. From doing the tests, I kind of came into conclusion that for the score I am looking for, I really need to focus on getting the answers rights rather than timing. So, I guess I am not entirely correct.
After the initial meltdown from this attempt, I sat and realized that I have been ignoring my CR and RC a lot more than I thought. I feel i need to do a lot of timed exercises in these parts particularly. Is there any question banks you suggest???
The day before the exam, i was thinking that if i had more time to check out all the questions in this forum, I would have been doing well in my MGMATs. I think the improvement is my quant score, (atleast!!!) is due to all the information i got here. I have to do the same for Verbal.
I need your suggestion. Could you elaborate on the timed strategies? I mean, how many timed tests have you done on an average per week??? did you start with 1.5 min for each question intially or you upgraded to lesser time gradually?
Hi,
MGMAT tests are great pieces of work, my personal opinion is that the verbal is a bit easier in the
MGMAT, you can take mbaprep to get a real feel of actual verbal, otherwise
mgmat is the right set of tests. you have to also see that you take test under strict discipline ( essay, only 8 mins break etc )
I would suggest you to buy kaplan Q bank, its amazing and with gmatclub discount coupon its value for money ( 99$ for 1000 Q, and that too from kaplan is a great deal ) , this Qbank will serve multiple purpose, you can take section wise Qs to monitor your efficiency level across different areas.
second, you may use grockit, grockit has quiet good video explanations... again value for money. Dont buy both now.. u have limited time with you now.
Believe me , you can never succeed with ignoring any of the section, you will never get difficult Qs in SC section if you ignore the other two sections.
For approach, i suggest you take questions in the slot of 40 for the one week during practice , so whenever you practice , do not check the answers till you have not solved 40/45 qs in verbal.
In my case i had very limited time ( 30/40 days ) to prepare because of my compelling travel schedule, i was very weak in terms of maintaining stamina during verbal section ( especially after first 15 Qs ), i practiced with approach of 40 Qs for a week, and i was comfortable thenafter.
on you point of ignoring CR and RC, mental fatigue actually cause you to skip this question...because these questions require concentration unlike SC where application of rules dominate.
Last but not least, don't think that if you have got one or two Qs wrong , your score is gonna be rock bottom or something.. u have to just keep on balancing your time according to your strengths and weaknesses.
Also share your target score, i am retaking my test ( my last score was 620 ) in may and targeting 700, my experience is that till 600-640 ( its 60% content + 40% strategy ) and for 700 ( 70% content and 30% strategy ). When i took my gmatprep i was scoring 560/570, i surfed a lot, read a lot of debrief, articles of instructors, and revised my strategy, and i scored 620 in actual gmat, in a week no one score 60 points more by studying content
