Optional Break times in new GMAT format ?

Question

Can some one give me a time split for optional breaks in the new exam format, please ?

I know there are 2 optional breaks but need to know the exact minutes after IR and quant ?

Planning to take exam in a fortnight---early next year intake. Looking for good 1 year full time program.

Target schools -- ISB, Kellog---- any more suggestions ?

Is the IR in actual exam easier than what it is in GMAT prep ? This is what I remember seeing in a couple of posts.

Two optional breaks are

1) immediately after the IR Section - 8 minutes (Remember the break time will include the signing/thumb print time as well.So effectively you would have ~7 minutes only)
2)immediately after QA Section - 8 minutes (~7 minutes )

The actual IR Section was a replica of the gmat prep.The exact replica.You will get same type of questions,with the SAME difficulty level.Not lower and not higher.

Also depends how long the proctor takes to check you in/out - I have heard some horror stories about losing a few minutes due to people waiting in the check-in area or the proctor saying that you can take all the time you want only to show up and see 3mins taken off the test..... but that's pretty uncommon.

1 thing to know which isn’t available online is that, when you return from the break and click to proceed to the section, a screen with instructions for that section will appear. This screen I believe lasts for 120 secs. You can use this time for plugging in your ear plugs or jotting something on your scratch pad!

So technically we can be a little late right? Say that I return back and sit down after 8'30'', although the timed break ended after 8min and the test has already started the next session, I won't lose any time for the next session since the first 2 min after the timed break is allocated to the instruction screen by default. If a test taker don't click "NEXT", s/he will get another 2 minutes. So the break can be manually extended to almost 10 min by this trick?

I remember getting 60 seconds, not 2 minutes. Don't cut it too close.

I had problems with the people monitoring the test-takers. when I needed to take the break, no one was there..I lost 2-3 minutes out of my break time...you either go to the bathroom, or eat...or both in the same time ..:\

haha make sure you use different hands if you do both at the same time! IMO, 8 min is more than enough time to eat a light snack (e.g. fruit) and use the bathroom. Keep in mind that not everyone in the testing center are taking the GMAT, nor did they all start at the same time. As such, optional breaks are staggered and it is not likely to meet a long queue to check back in (possible, but not likely)
