Hi guys,
Altough I have used this forum as a valuable tool for my GMAT preparation, this is my first post. I just took the GMAT exam this morning and I'm a little bit disappointed. I've been studying for about three months, using basically
Magoosh, OG 13 and Manhattan SC. Quant has never been a problem for me but, as a non-native speaker, verbal section represents a big challenge for me.
In the last month I did only GMATPrep as a way to see how I was improving:
GMAT Prep I - 700 (Q49, V35) - Did it with AWA and IR. Two quant questions repeated from OG
GMAT Prep II - 730 (Q50, V38) - Did it with AWA and IR. No questions repeated, altough I know I guessed two correctly in the quant section
GMAT Prep I 2012 - 730 (Q49, V40) - took 2 days prior the exam .About 4 questions in the verbal section were familiar but I did not recall the answers
But today things got a little off this trend: 680 (Q47, V36, IR 8). I was pretty confident about the test, hoping to get a 700-720, with Q~49 and verbal ~37. AWA and IR went smoothly (even more than I tought it would be). Some math questions seemed tricky, which really damaged my confidence. I had to guess some questions in the middle of the test (I think I guessed pretty easy ones), fearing that I would not have enough time to finish the whole section. After I finished the section, I knew I didn't aced it, but in every GMAT Prep I took I was not confident about my Quant score, but ended scoring ~49. I tought I went great on the verbal section, and hoped to score a 38-39. When the final score popped the screen I lost my floor.
I was pretty confident about the test, but now I have to study for another 30 days and figure out (i) what went wrong, (ii) how to improve my verbal section and (iii) how to better manage my time in the quant section
Do you guys have any idea how to help me with this?
I'm planning to buy the Economist GMAT Tutor so that I can improve my overall score. Will it be enough to improve my score by 50+ points?
Any comment is appreciated.
