Is there a 500/600 level math section? Ive been looking. I have seen 700 level questions but I feel I need to start from the bottom building my skill set and confidence before I tackle those. I dont test in GMAT till December so I have a little time to do this.

I have put off my dream of getting an MBA for years because I am intimidated by the Math section of the GMAT.

There, I finally admitted it. I would never admit it to my family members who keep asking me at every thanksgiving and christmas dinner what the hold up is. They even call and ask on Easter and Mothers day now since my much younger cousin got admitted to HBS straight out of college (no work experience... the wanker! But in his defense... he had a 780).

I'm 32 and I have two business schools that I have dreams of attending (one or the other). The thing is that theyre pretty competitive and while I have a great undergraduate GPA, a great GPA from the online masters degree I got a few years ago, and an impressive resume for my age group, I feel that I need to score at least a 700 to be competitive for the schools I want to attend (Im only incurring additional student debt for those two... no one else LOL). I put myself on a timeline (because I work well in a crunch). I have to take the GMAT before 01/01/15 to make the final round of applications in April 2015. I signed up for the Kaplan Test Prep (and it was painful giving them my debit card number for that much money LOL).

Why am I intimidated by the Math section?

I never took Geometry in high school or college. Like most business majors, all I needed was algebra.... then business calc, which was another fancy word for more algebra. I look at the test prep books and the stuff looks like greek to me. I NEED HELP, GUIDANCE, FEEDBACK, A SLAP ON THE BACK OF MY NECK... Whatever you have that would help me achieve my goal. I have blocked out two hours every night and the weekends to do my studying. The GMAT class starts on the 28th of October. Im determined but I just need some advice. I appreciate the time you're taking out of your day to answer my questions and give me some feedback. THANK YOU!!!!!

Have Faith in yourself. Keep fighting with quant section each & every day. Give it your best shot

You may want to start off by getting a a good book to cover the math basics. I wouldn't recommend moving into your full GMAT prep until you have refreshed yourself on the basics. They are the foundations to all other Quant problems you will come across. Also, this could help build your confidence level so that you're not as intimidated by the math section!

And if you need help determining your areas of weakness, give a good adaptive course a try.

Hope this helps.
