statement 1: sufficient
tells us that there are 20 executives since we already know that there are 100 non executives

statement 2: sufficient
since we already know that there are 100 non executives, we know that $75 x 100 = $7500.
$10,000 - $7,500 = $2500. Divide by $125 (executive price) to get the answer

Answer D!

Here we are mistakenly assuming that company only consisting of Executive and Non Executive, what if company consists of other category employee that is not explicitly mentioned here. Statement 1 is not sufficient. Statement 2 is sufficient because we know the bonus

All employees can be divided in two categories, those who are executives and those who are not. Those two categories add up to 100%.

We can't assume any information. They say that "100 of the employees were nonexecutives". But they don't say that the number of nonexecutives that work on the company is 100....

Can't understand why is D

Bunuel You should put this information into the question, that "All employees can be divided in two categories"

No need. The statement "all employees can be classified as either executives or non-executives" is a logical and obvious categorization of any group of employees. We can divide any group into two distinct groups: those that possess a certain quality, and those that do not. For instance, all objects can be classified into two groups by color: black and NOT black. It should also be noted that this is an official question and it's as clear and unambiguous as it gets.
