Cheech and Chong were traveling back home to Los Angeles (L.A.) from a "business trip" in Mexico when they pulled into a gas station from where Poncho of California Highway Patrol was just leaving. They know California Highway Patrol drives 60 mph, while they tend to drive 75 mph. If they don't want cross Poncho again and San Diego is almost 225 miles away, where Poncho exits the highway for his station, what is the least amount of time, in minutes, Cheech and Chong should hang out at the gas station before continuing their journey to L.A.? (Note. L.A. is farther away from San Diego from Mexico.)

Don't know if the answer on here is right. Seems like it should be:
Police: 225 miles/60Mph = 3.75 hours
Cheech: 225 miles/ 75 mph = 3 hours
3.75-3=.75 hours = 45 minutes so they should leave 45+1 minute so they don't need in SD. so D.

Long question stem and too many place names but here is the gist:
Gas station is 225 miles away from San Diego.
Patrol car starts from the gas station towards San Diego at 60 mph
Our "businessmen" will also start from gas station and reach San Diego and then further on at 75 mph.
If they start right away, they will cross the patrol car soon since they are faster than the patrol car.
If they don't want to cross the patrol car again, they should reach San Diego after the patrol car has already reached. The patrol car will take 225/60 = 3.75 hrs = 3 hrs and 45 mins to reach San Diego.
The businessmen will take 225/75 = 3 hrs to reach San Diego.
So if they start 45 mins later, they will both reach San Diego at the same time.
So they should start 46 mins later so that they never cross the patrol car.
