Hi vinnisatija,

You said that the Verbal section was different from the ones that you got in the Mock CATs.
Did you solve the GMAT Prep CATs? They are a very good representation of the actual GMAT and are the best indicators of your preparation.

The timing problems are generally a byproduct of other problems. Going by your score, other than the fact that you panicked, I feel that there is a problem in understanding the concepts too.

Before appearing for your GMAT again, you should opt for a preparatory course and build a strong foundation. There are many companies including ours, who offer trials before you buy one. You can take the trial and then enroll in the one that suits you best.

When I took my first attempt, I was at a score of 700 in GMAT prep software, however after the actual exam (where I scored a 620), I realised that my score was inflated since I had been doing similar questions in Official Guide. The next time, I decided to pursue a variety of material and change my approach in solving questions. My suggestions are as follows:

1. Try solving a wider variety of questions, especially solve OG 10 (it has a much better level of Verbal questions)
2. Set higher constraints while solving the questions [ knowing each and every error type while solving a question]
3. Identify your weak areas and keep on working on them while at the same time detailing the errors in thinking

Hope this helps

Cheers
