divide meters per hour (y/t)
by meters per rotation (x)
to get rotations per hour (y/xt)

In 1 hour bicyclist covers y/t meters.
If he covers x meters= 1 rotation
So, to cover y/t meters, no. of rotation = (y/t)/x = y/xt rotations.

—-1 Rotation of a Circle = 1 Circumference of a Circle


—-Total Number of Rotations of Circle = (Distance traveled) / (Circumference of Circle)

Thus:

Total Number of Rotations = (Y met. Distance Covered) / (X met. Circumference of Circle) = (Y / X)


—-we are told that this Distance is covered at a constant speed in T hours:

(Total Number of Rotations) / (per Hour) = (Y / X) / T hours


-Answer-

Y / (XT)

GMAT Takeaway: Wheel / Rotation Problems
Memorize these two formulas:
Distance = Rotations × Circumference
Rotations = Distance / Circumference
------------------------------------

If speed is given:
Rotations per hour = Speed / Circumference
because
Speed = (Rotations per hour) × Circumference
--------------------------------------------

Unit-check shortcut
Speed = meters/hour
Circumference = meters/rotation
So
(meters/hour) ÷ (meters/rotation) = rotations/hour
Therefore
Rotations per hour = Speed / Circumference
------------------------------------------

Fast recognition trigger
When you see:
Wheel, gear, tire, rotation, revolution, circumference
immediately think:
D = R × C
Everything else is usually just a rearrangement of this formula. This is the one formula worth carrying into GMAT.
