To what extent schools conduct background checks on the applicants once they are interviewed or offered admission??

Hi ConquertheGMAT,

I suppose that it depends on the School/Program, but I would expect at least a minimal background check would be done by any respectable Program.

Since we're talking about a purely HYPOTHETICAL situation - is there a purely theoretical issue that you're concerned about?

The schools give this task to a third party. Most of the schools use Re-vera.
The things that you have mentioned in the applications are verified.
Such as your companies, did you actually work there.
You Undergrad, GPA, your recommendations etc.

are just the company/recommenders verified or the duration for which u worked in the company also verified?
Is the magnitude of verification same for all the schools or does it vary per school?

i get the feeling top-tier schools will ding you if you come off disingenuous in the application or interview, so you are better off being upfront.
