Thanks Bunuel and Vard! I chose 150 + 125m . I didn't understand the "m-1" but now I see you must subtract the 1(first hour) from the m (total hours)

Hi ninayeyen,

This question can be solved in a variety of ways, including by TESTing VALUES:

Let's say that M = 3 hours. In that situation, the cost of that lawyer's time would be:

$150 for the 1st hour
$125 for the 2nd hour
$125 for the 3rd hour
Total = $400

So we're looking for an answer that equals 400 when M=3...

A) 150 + 125 m = 150+375 = 525 NOT a match
B) 150 + 125( m – 1) = 150 + 250 = 400 This IS a MATCH
C) 125 + 150 m = 125 + 450 = 575 NOT a match
D) 125 + 150( m – 1) = 125 + 300 = 425 NOT a match
E) 275( m – 1) = 550 NOT a match

Final Answer:
GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

A lawyer's representation costs $150 for the first hour and $125 for each additional hour. What is the total cost, in dollars, of her representation for m hours, where m is an integer greater than 1?

A) 150 + 125 m

B) 150 + 125( m – 1)

C) 125 + 150 m

D) 125 + 150( m – 1)

E) 275( m – 1)

Given: A lawyer's representation costs $150 for the first hour and $125 for each additional hour.

Asked: What is the total cost, in dollars, of her representation for m hours, where m is an integer greater than 1?

Cost for first hour = $150
Cost for next (m-1) hours = $125 (m-1)

Total cost = $150 + $125(m-1)
