Is Duke Receptive to Re-applicants?
Most of the major MBA programs are receptive to re-applicants if the re-applicant makes certain to correct the perceived weakness(es) in their prior application. We have written a long article that discusses 7 Best Practices for Re-applicants, located here:

But what specifically about Duke Fuqua?
Some top business schools are rumored to be less receptive to re-applicants than others. In our experience, Fuqua is one of the most open MBA programs to re-applicants, in large part because many great candidates submit sub-standard applications and once they reapply with an outstanding application, the school sees the great merit in their candidacy and is happy to welcome them to Duke. Given how unique the Fuqua essay questions are, it seems easier to “mess up” the essay questions for Fuqua than it might be for schools with less unique essay questions.
With revamped essays written to an outstanding quality, we at MBA Admit.com have seen candidates go from rejection with or without interview to admission the very next year – from all sorts of backgrounds, including American, African, East Asian and European.
So, if you are interested in re-applying to Fuqua, make sure to identify the weaknesses in your candidacy and application. If you had a solid overall application but one flat recommendation, you need to reapply with a stellar application – including the essays – and stellar recommendations. If your GPA is solid but you applied with a less-than-ideal GMAT score, say around 600, you should strive to secure a much higher score, ideally 710 or above. (But, we have helped candidates with GMAT scores around 620 to get into Fuqua – the breadth of the application makes it possible to put forward a strong case for admission by focusing the light on other outstanding credentials.) If you did not put enough effort into your essays, but otherwise your credentials are competitive, you need to present a new application that shows clearly a great deal of effort in preparation and excellent content.
