If x / y is an integer, which of the following statements must be true?

A. both x and y are integers
B. x is an integer
C. either x or y is negative
D. y / x is an integer
E. x = ny where n is an integer
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Pre-analysis should be done for such questions. Following were my pointers that I thought when I read the question (& not the options during this stage):

1. y is a factor of x
2. x is a multiple of y

When the pre-analysis is done, then have a look at the options and eliminate on solid grounds of reasoning.

I knew that the correct choice should be on these lines. Hence, it helped in eliminating the options faster and more efficiently.
